The first dilemma that almost everybody faces after bringing home a new pet is naming it. Just like naming a new born child, choosing a name for your pet can be quite challenging. Generally, people do not want to select names that are too common or too simple. Most of us look for something that is unique and unusual. Some pet owners have taken this notion one step further and have allotted such names to their pets that are not only different but also out of the world. Whether these names are funny or just weird, I’ll leave you to judge.

• Betty Poops
The owner of this Boston Terrier thought she bore a resemblance to the cartoon character ‘Betty Boop’, being black and white with huge eyes and a little mole. However, when she was brought home for the first time, she was very sick. She had serious stomach problems which made her poop more than often. Thus she earned her name ‘Betty Poops’. Due to the measures taken by her owner, Patricia Kline, Betty is completely healthy now although a little gassy at times.
• Captain Underpants
Allison Manderino wanted to select a name for her new dog that would match his goofy and spunky personality. So her brother suggested the name Captain Underpants as a joke but she thought that it was perfect. True to his name, this little doggie has saved the lives of many other dogs by donating blood for sick and injured dogs every five to seven weeks. He is not only fun- loving but also good natured.
• Stinky Monkey
On a cold and damp evening, Nina and her husband went to the airport to pick up their new pooch. Due to the weather, the shivering black Shih Tzu that was wet and soiled from his plane ride. Taking one look at him, Nina exclaimed that he looked more like a stinky monkey than a puppy. Hearing this, the little one started jumping around and wagging his tail frantically. Seeing this, Nina stuck with the same name.

At first, Bobby Mazza was not sure about getting a dog but his partner convinced him that it was a good idea. So they visited a Jack Russell Terrier breeder. But as they reached there all the dogs were just running around their feet. Trying to get them to stop, Craig shouted, “Geez Louise, will you just stand still?!” One little female stopped in her tracks and Craig picked her up. They thought she was the one and since Louise was the name of Bobby’s mother, he let the name stay.

• Snuggles Butt Le-Lee
When Madison Le-Lee rescued her one year old domestic medium haired kitten, he was so dirty that she could not tell whether he was brown or orange. She originally named him ‘Dirty Butt’. After she finished cleaning him thoroughly she found out that the cat was beautifully white.
The cat often follows Madison’s daughter around so that he can snuggle with her. He wraps his paws around her ankle while she drags him to the all the way to the door as she leaves home and promises to see him soon as she peels him off herself.

• Pizza Guy
Four year old Jonesy told his parents one day that he would name his future kids ‘Wolverine’ and ‘Pizza Guy’. Wanting to prevent this, his parents told him to name their future pets. After a year, when they were at a rescue organization, they saw a kitten with a triangle in the middle of his face in the shape of a slice of pizza. They considered this as a sign that he would be the newest member of their family and thus adopted him, naming him ‘Pizza Guy’.

• Cheeto Burrito
Cheryl Weiland received a kitten from her husband as a wedding present. She decided to name him Cheeto because he was orange and resembled the snack. The Weilands then decided to give him the last name Burrito because he liked curling up on blankets and being picked up from both sides, as if he were the meat of a burrito.

• Chenoa Azure Marshmellow-Puff
Erika Libby is of the opinion that a good pet name has to provide more than just a physical description. So she named her Himalayan cat after taking into account many aspects. Chenoa means “white dove.” Azure is the color of Chenoa’s eyes and Marshmellow Puff refers to her long white coat. This cat also has the unusual ability to chirp like a bird.
To some people, names like these might sound funny. To some other people, they are ridiculous. Quite a few people even go to the extent of calling the pet owners cruel for inflicting their pets with names that they themselves would not like to have. Nevertheless, I hope that this post has helped you to decide what you should name your pet, or rather, what you should definitely not name it.
