Battle of Ages: Dog VS Cat (Part Two)

Yes. Dogs are great and all but I have to balance an argument here. So now to all Ms. Pretty Kitties, High five! Cats are better than dogs in so many things. Like you know… things will come up! Let me think…

Battle of Ages: Dog VS Cat (Part Two)

Yes I am aware of the fact that the cats have snatched the victory a long ago but still I would like to explain the reasons why.

Cats treat your guests politely: When a guest arrives at your home a dog will start barking or creating mess. They will start doing everything possible from running across the hallway to jumping around like a basketball or just plain scratching on your guest’s blazer to get some attention. But your cat will be nowhere to be seen or just observing from a higher place. If you are lucky enough and the cat is in mood he may come and greet your guest by a small twitching of the tail and that’s it you can’t expect any jumping on the lap or anything. The most he can do is ignoring the humans and go to sleep. I’m starting to think that they won’t greet your guests at all; politeness is out of the question.

Battle of Ages: Dog VS Cat (Part Two)

Cats smell better than a dog: Even the best dog person can’t ignore the fact that a dog doesn’t smell very pleasant and no shampoo of this planet can make them smell good (to me they smell like happiness though). But a cat is always squeaky clean due to all those hours of endless grooming. Nobody has to ask you if you have a dog, their noses will tell them that, but apart from the cat furs on your clothes, anybody can hardly notice if you have a cat.

Cats are funnier than dogs: See for yourself! The internet is littered with funny cat posts. Their perfect timing while taking the snap changes it all. Somewhere they are swimming in invisible water, somewhere they are sleeping in a funny pose, somewhere that are showing some cat-itude. They look funny without them knowing it. Looks like cats are really very fond of comic timings. Most dogs need a bigger stage to be clowns and constant applause but not cats they are funny all by themselves.

Cats are quiet: Even the loudest cat is quieter than a dog. You don’t have to get complaints from neighbours about their barking. Most dogs will announce every event in their daily life, from a stranger at the door to new flavour of the dog treat. But a cat will meow or hiss; you can hardly hear that from the next room. Your neighbour will never call to tell you that they can’t sleep because of the cat’s hiss.

Cats are natural insect repellent: A cat basically tells all the bugs not to bug him and he means it. Cats are fascinated by the little winged and crawly things. He will go to any extent to examine it just a little better. He can climb walls, trees everything. A cat spends hours de-bugging his house but still hopes for some insects to show up and entertain him.

Cats are collectors: look at the toys you gave to your dog. They are all shattered but a cat carefully hides his precious toys under the bed or in the baskets. They fear that someone may steal their precious glittery ball or the jingle bell so they keep them safe in the “Cat Collectibles”.

Cats don’t need to be walked: The dog needs to be walked no matter what. He needs to go out. But a cat? Never. He doesn’t need any walking. He can sit by the window and use the litter box. And if he needs to walk, he can walk himself you just need to keep the door open. He will walk himself and return when he is done without a hassle. But a dog, he needs to be walked, if he finds the door open he will run a nice long run and the owner have to chase him or lure him back to the house. Disgraceful!

Cats bring you gifts: Cats enjoy bringing gifts for their loved ones. Sometimes it’s a dead mouse!!! Enough said.

Cats VS laser pointers: The only way a cat can play with you… well, not totally with you but with the laser pointers you point at the wall or at the floor. The cat has a weakness for the red dot and it will run forever hoping that someday he will catch it.

The happy purr: The cat’s rhythmic, satisfying, calming purr that lets you know that the feline is contented while the dog will act all childish and dance at your feet! No sound in this world can match the sound of a cat purr!

Cat VS Dog

Cat VS Dog

I know what above points look like, but those are all I have got to speak for the cats!  Cats may be independent and all but that makes them better animals but not a better friend. The best friend’s place is always for the dogs.

Battle of Ages: Dog VS Cat (Part One)

I am not a cat hater or dog hater. I am just a person who is trying to figure out a way for the age old debate to come to an end. I personally don’t hate cats or the dogs. I love them. But if I were given a choice to live with one of the either species, I would always choose a dog. Just don’t tell that to my cat please.

Battle of Ages: Dog VS Cat (Part One)

I always thought cats and dogs have different kinds of personalities. Some cats are jerk, some are sociable, some are friendly, some are evil but a dog can be all of the above but you can never find him less loving towards you. If any Mr. Friendly Dog is reading this, high five! If any Ms. Pretty Kitty is reading this, umm…. well… let’s just say the dog made me do this… pointing a gun at me! You know how vicious dogs are, aren’t you?

Don't Need Any Caption

Don’t Need Any Caption

  1. Dog keeps you happy: A study on 95 people proved that dog owners are much happy than the cat owners.
  2. A dog is easily trained: Dogs are easily trained apart from the cat that can get litter trained easily. I think even the cat persons would admit that training a cat isn’t as easy as training a dog. Where cats act all lazy during the training, dogs seem to like it and it seems like it gives them a reason. So when you are not giving them enough attention, he is performing everything you trained him to get your attention.
  3. Dogs are real life heroes: Dogs fought in a war beside men, dogs rescued men from certain death there are too many stories about the dogs’ bravery but till now only one cat saved a boy from a burning house.
  4. Dogs are guardian: dogs are careful guardians always watching over us, protecting us from all the evil. If someone intrudes your house a cat would run and hide or keep going with his grooming session but a dog would instinctively protect you and your house. He would bark even bite if necessary. Your dog may not be the perfect security but at least it will try its best.
  5. Dogs keep you fit: If you feel like playing with your dog he is always up for it. But if you try to play with your cat, he would rather take a nap than play with you. And then at 2 AM in the morning when you would try and get some sleep, your cat will play… rather it would raid the house for a squeaky toy and play with it. You can get tired by playing with a dog but he would hardly get tired or may be the joy of playing with you is greater than their tiredness.
  6. Dogs can detect cancer: With their super smelling ability they can detect cancer, bombs, people etc. It is even proved that a dog can decrease the chance for you to have asthma because of all the “dog-dust” you smell from your childhood, your body gets immune of the dust and forms natural allergy shield.
  7. Dogs wait: Despite the fact that they are dying inside of impatience when you say “let’s go out”, a dog will patiently wait with their wide puppy eyes. And if you are evil you can see their funny faces by saying the key sentence and waiting.
  8. They understand you: When you are sad your dog will know that by looking at your face and they will come over to you and look at you like, “Hey big hairless dog that I love so much, please stop being sad! There are so many things to play fetch with, so many mud puddles to swim in! World is beautiful”. No cat absolutely none care about your emotions.
  9. They want to keep you on your feet always: If you are injured or ill they will lick you in a hope that you can throw tennis balls for them again soon. Even if it doesn’t help you recover physically, it will definitely help you spiritually. They would love to see you in the tennis ball throwing form again.
  10. Man’s best friend: “man’s best friend”, woman’s too… someone forgot to mention. A well deserved title for the dogs. You are the centre of a dog’s universe while the cat is the centre of its own universe and you are a mere orbital servant (willingly, of course). So the cat is the sun, you can choose any planet you want and the dog is the moon if you were the earth.
Dog VS Cat

Dog VS Cat

In a nutshell, a dog tries to understand every word you say by tilting their head a bit and look adorable while doing it while a cat will just ignore you and sleep. A dog will love you unconditionally till he dies but a cat will make you pay for every time he even laid his eyes upon you. Dogs will play with you all day long but the cat would rather like to play with the bugs and especially the almost dead ones. A dog will wake you up if there is a fire in your house, a cat will quietly sneak out of your house.

All About The Dog-Cats -Birman

Birman’s are also called the sacred Cat of Burma, they have been around for centuries. In a word they are one of the most charming breeds of cats. Here’s why, the Birman’s beautiful colour point pattern, long, silky fur, flawless white gloves and brilliant blue eyes and you can add some more to the reason why people fancy the Birmans. Their sweet, devoted personality makes them terrific companion.

History and Origin

The History of the Birmans are shrouded in the past though they are around for centuries. According to the stories, pure white amber eyed cats lived in the monasteries of Burma and were said to be the feline carriers of the souls of those priests who have left the mortal life. A golden statue with glowing sapphire eyes represented the goddess of transmutation, Tsim Kyan Kse. She was worshipped in these monasteries. Story goes that each evening Mun Ha, the High Lama of the temple of Lao Tsun worshipped Tsim Kyan Kse with one of the sacred temple cats, Sinh as his faithful companion.

One day, the marauders attacked the temple and injured Mun Ha. As Mun Ha was dying Sinh climbed on his chest and purred to comfort Mun Ha for the final journey. When the monk died a amazing transformation took place. The eyes of the cat turned from Amber to Sapphire blue like the statue of the goddess, his fur changed to a golden-ish colour like the colour of the statue. And his four legs, ears, face and tail turned to the colour of earth. Her four paws were pure white for the Mun Ha’s pure spirit. And on the morning after all the monastery cat changed to the colour of SInh. After that for seven days Sinh refused to have any food and finally died and carried Mun Ha’s soul with him.

More stories are heard about the appearance of Birman in France. It’s said that a pair of cats, one male (Maldapour) and the female (Sita) were being taken to France from the monastery of Lao tsun. Maldapour died on the way but when Sita reached France she was already pregnant with Maldapour’s offspring. That’s how Birman went to France in 1919.

In 1959, Birman came in America and in 1967 Birman was officially recognised as the third most popular long-haired cat breed in America, according to CFA’s registration totals.

All About The Dog-Cats -Birman

Appearance

The Birman’s body is a beautiful mix of slim Siamese and portly Persians. Their firm chin, strong jaws, Roman nose and medium sized, almost round, wide blue eyes makes them a cute breed.

A perfect Birman has matching white gloves on his four paws. Their small silky coat is medium to long and the long tail fur is so silky that it resembles luxury silk.

All About The Dog-Cats -Birman

Personality

Birman’s are devoted, well mannered cats with a gentle temperament. They are perfect family cats and more perfect for those who have other pets. Birman’s are playful, people oriented and they love to curl up on the available lap to grab some more attention. Their meows are very smooth and melodious and easy for the ears. They communicate with the meows.

For their loving nature and gentle temperament Birman’s are easy to handle and take care of. Like the original temple cats they still have that elegance and craving for worship which is actually human affection. With a meaningful meow, tilt of the head and a stare of those brilliantly beautiful eyes they speak for themselves to their humans. With a bit of well deserved worship, Birmans return the wealth of love and devotion.

Grooming

In spite of being a long-haired cat, Birmans are easily groomed. They are perfect for those who want a long haired cat but have less time to groom it. Birmans generally need a good combing four or five times a week with a steel cat comb. Occasional paws, eyes, ears and fur care is needed though.

Special Notes

A Birman is a breeder’s nightmare it takes a lot of effort to match the paws and all the features so your order for a perfect looking Birman may stay pending for months. But if you ask me, I’ll say, what will you do with his looks if you are not going to show it off? A Birman is a Birman anyhow.

It's a dog cat thing.

It’s a dog cat thing.

Extra Special Notes For Extra Special Cats

Birman’s have a wee bit of dog-ness in their personality. They are sweet and affectionate. They will always follow you around the house even when you just have gone to take your phone from downstairs. Birmans are curious. They are curious about everything, from your movements to the grocery bags he wants to know about everything. They will always run to the door whenever he hears the door being unlocked and will greet you with some happy meows. They love to talk to you about silly things, with meow-yeses and meow-no’s. And you can even teach them some little tricks like shaking hands. All it will take is a lot of patience, affection and cat treats.

DO NOT DECLAW

Cats use their paws to climb up everywhere and to land on the ground with their acrobatic excellence. They can land on the ground on their feet almost every time.  Cats are excellent groomers. They almost spend 50% of their time awake in grooming. I guess only they took the saying seriously –“cleanliness is next to godliness”. One step closer to run the world, eh? Although they are very good at grooming themselves but we should take care of their grooming too. Let’s start with their paws.

Clean paws equals to clean cat equals to clean house

Firstly, keep your cat’s paws clean from soil, household chemicals, litter or dirt. Any unhealthy substance should not be sticking to her paws; she may lick it while grooming herself and fall sick. Once a day, wipe her paws with a damp cloth. Check in between her toes and around the paw pads. Keep your floor free from household chemicals and debris. Thus, her paws will be clean and so will your furniture.

Happy paw

Happy paw

The adventurer’s paw

Cats are curious creatures. Unless you have overfed them without giving them enough exercise and made them couch potatoes, they would love to explore the foreign lands. That can be inside your house or outside her territory. So check your little explorer’s paws on a daily basis for cuts, swellings, sores which needs to be treated.

Scratchy paws

Cats need to scratch to shed the outer nail sheaths and reveal the deadly sharp claws. So help her not to scratch the furniture. Give her different kinds of posts so that she can scratch and admire her newly sharpened claws. You can use a bit of catnip for scenting the posts and attract your cat to the post.

Scratchy Paws

Scratchy Paws

Nail care

Some great cats get uneasy and can even bite if you touch their paw and cut their nails. So prepare your cat by massaging her paw and, get her used of the feeling that you are not going to hurt her. When she seems comfortable and calm follow the steps below:

  • Apply gentle pressure on the top of each toe and the cushiony pad below and you will see the nail coming out. Do not apply much pressure you may get scratched or bit.
  • Use sharp high quality cat nail scissors to cut off the top of the nails just where the nail starts curving.
  • Try avoiding being quick you may cut off the vein that run through the cat’s nail. You can see the pink area inside the nail.
  • If you accidentally cut the pink area it may bleed. So apply some styptic powder and the bleeding will stop.
  • Don’t cut more than 3-4 nails at a time. Your cat may grow uncomfortable. Make sure you give her a treat every time she lets you cut her nails quietly.

Hairy little paws

Long hair kitties often get their hair growing in between their toes and that irritates them. You’d know if you find your kitty licking the hair too much. Take a round scissor and cut the hair of very gently so that it doesn’t hurt the cat.

Protect the Pads

Protect your cat’s paws. Moisturize them by a vet-recommended product. Keep an eye on her. Don’t let her walk on the cold freezing floor or hot sidewalks.

Understand the body language

If you find your cat obsessively licking her paws or limping while walking please look if there is any problem and consult a vet.

Genetically superb

Cats generally don’t suffer any foot problem but knowing your cat’s breed may help you to find out how susceptible her feet are.

Do Not Declaw

Declawing is a surgery that is done by amputating the ends of her toes. It results to very much pain during recovery. Imagine how you will feel if the ends of your toes gets amputated. Do you want your cat to go through such pain when the daily grooming can do the trick? If you cut her nails whenever it gets sharp enough then she won’t be able to scratch you. If you provide her enough scratching posts she won’t scratch thing and destroy them. A little care from you can keep your cat away from the pain of declawing.

DO NOT DECLAW

DO NOT DECLAW

Cat’s paws are very important to her. They help her climb, scratching things including you, pinning down ants on the ground, pawing you to give her some attention or treats etc. So it’s very important that you take care of her paws without declawing them. If you want a safe, harmless pet, pet a tree, trees don’t bite or cause you any harm but if you have something moving as a pet it may harm you in some way, at some point of time. Don’t hurt the animal if you can’t take care of them.

Previously I told you about The Samwise Gamgees of real life. But I’m not done yet. While watching The Lords of The Rings so many of us thought that we can never have a friend like Sam. But we all are wrong. In the previous article I told you about 10 of the real life best friends. I have told you about Lagoto Romagnolo, Tibetan Terrier, Bernese Mountain dog, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Portuguese Water dog, German Shorthaired Pointer, Shetland Sheepdog, Vizsla, Dalmatian and Doberman Pinscher. Now I’m going to tell you about the bests among the Samwise Gamgees.

10. Australian Cattle Dog: Australian Cattle Dogs always need a job. They are very much active. They are happiest in the wild open places. You have to keep them busy in some task like herding, obedience training etc. They are very affectionate towards their family but can be furious towards the stranger. Their smooth coat only needs occasional brushing and bathing. These are the best of herding dogs. They are smart, energetic and very protective and they have Dingo blood in them so you can expect them to go all day long with you. They form a tight bond with their owners but the owner must show the qualities of a herd leader.

9. Jack Russel Terrier: These are small, cute but mighty fellows with an energy plant inside them. If you are a long distance runner, this is a perfect breed for you. Their idea of heaven is running in an open field. And best thing about them, they are our little adventurous friends whom you can carry along if they are exhausted!

Jack Russel Terriers

8. Rat Terrier: Their name signifies nothing about them rather it creates a wrong image about them. They are appreciated as family pets and their pest control skills. They excel in agility and obedience training. They are as good in go on hikes with you as they are on the sofa of your home. They have a decent hunting and farm dog history.

Rat Terrier

7. Rhodesian Ridgeback: Rhodesian Ridgeback were originally bred to hunt lions in South Africa, that explains how dangerous and how tough this breed can be but surprisingly they are very good with people. The silent guardian, The Batman dog, I’d say and one of my favourites. They are very much athletic and there short, low-maintenance coat helps them to run in heat. They have a beautiful mark on their back.

6. Australian Shepherd: Australian Shepherds are known for their extremely well people skills and protectiveness and they make an awesome and active family pet. The Australian Shepherd is an ultimate busybody. Their double coat is weather resistant. And did I tell you that these little fellows are very athletic and intelligent. They have a great deal of stamina and they are bold, alert, independent, confident and smart. They tend to get frustrated when they don’t get to show their proper abilities and that makes them a very bad breed to live with but proper training and outdoor adventures make them excel. They are wonderful for those who like hiking in different terrains.

5. Weimaraner: Their gray coat! Oh their beautiful gray coat. You will absolutely love their colour and they require less maintenance. They are made for great speed, stamina and endurance which combine with their athletic body and elegant feature. The Weimaraner is bold and rambunctious. It loves to run and hunt and when they don’t get enough runs, they get destructive. They are for those who love to be active with a fun loving companion!

4. Siberian Husky: They can pull a sled to a good distance that should explain how strong and fast these dogs are. Fun loving, adventurous, bold, stubborn, alert, clever, mischievous, independent and incredibly beautiful are the right words to describe a Siberian Husky. If you live in a cold weather and take long hikes a husky is perfect for you. A well built husky or a pack of Husky can even keep you safe from dangers if you train them well.

3. Labrador Retriever: Labrador Retrievers are known for being very gentle towards the children. The most popular dog in the world but they are also the most fine dog capable of doing everything. “Weatherproof waterproof and tenacious –the epitome of a hunter” says the Outdoor Life. Obedient, athletic, playful and a calm housedog but they tend to get fat and agitated when they don’t get enough exercise. Good for all weather and all kind of hikes.

2. Border Collie: Known as one of the most intelligent dog of all, bred to herd animals. Border Collies love to be engaged in some mental or physical riddle. So make sure you take him to run every day and give him lots of puzzle to solve… err, their kind of puzzle. Their very energetic and loyal companion.

And now the number one.

Number One is none other than our very own Mutts. We will call them ‘The Mutts’.

The Mutt

1.The Mutts: Let’s admit that we see them around everyday but don’t really notice but they are the best breed. They have qualities which you can never get in the others. Take one in today and they will happily join with you in every adventure. They are the most loyal and most hardy of all dogs and they need least maintenance.

There are so many kinds of people and for every kind there is a kind of dog. For exercise junkies types, home-sweet-home types, holiday-in-a-resort types, hikers, joggers, city lovers, forests-my-house p, Bear-Grylls types, pirates, there is a dog for everyone. Your dog will happily join you to wherever you go but for outdoor junkies it’s very important that their dogs keep up with them.

These hyperactive fellows are good to go outside and all but here is some good and bad of having an active dog.

You’ll love:

  1. That they are always with you.
  2. That they go for jogging and hiking with you.
  3. That they are up to play with you.
  4. That they are always happy

You won’t like:

  1. That when they don’t get enough exercise they destroy things inside the house.
  2. That when they don’t get enough exercise they get fat and lazy.
  3. That they are always up to bark at things.

Now the dog breeds:

20. Lagoto Romagnolo:  They are named as a lake dog but they are used as a gun dog. They are basically retrievers thus natural hunters. They make a good hunting pet though their personal favourite is truffle hunting.

Lagoto Romagnolo

19. Tibetan Terrier: These are small dogs with a bomb personality. These dogs were bred in monasteries 2000 years ago to make excellent companions in the inaccessible mountains. They were actually bred for herding sheep and bring things that have fallen below as this breed loves to climb. They were also kept as good luck charms and watchdogs. Tibetan terriers are lively and they do extremely well in snow.

18. Bernese Mountain Dogs: Bernese Mountain dogs are very easy to train and gladly walk by your sides if you don’t want to bother with a leash, in the cold mountains. They can even carry a pack for you. They were originally bred for drafting and herding.

Bernese Mountain Dog

17. Pembroke Welsh Corgi: Don’t let their short legs fool you. In spite of their short legs Corgis are very athletic and quick. “welsh” for dwarf dogs. They are little but they are no lap dog, they are fun loving and amiable. They are courageous little fellows bred for herding. They love to stay active.

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

16. Portuguese Water Dog: You are much of a kayaking type? Love to stay close to the water? Here is the best dog for you. Portuguese Water dogs excel in the surfs. They love the water. They were originally bred to herd fishes, retrieve broken nets and deliver couriers by water. They are also known for staying at their owner’s side. These courageous dogs are the ultimate water companion.

15. German Shorthaired Pointers: They were bred to trail, retrieve and point out. A very good companion to go hunting with. No matter what style you hunt in this dog can always keep up. They are known as versatile and intelligent dogs. Their idea of heaven is hunting on a field and sleeping by their owners.

German Shorthaired Pointer

14. Shetland Sheepdog: You might want to keep them off from the roads as their herding instinct may provoke them to herd the cars. They are one of the most intelligent breeds of dog though you don’t quite feel that in your stomach for the first sentence but believe me they are. It’s just their strong herding instinct. Shetland Sheepdogs are intelligent, playful. They love chasing and herding animals and run in open free spaces. So much for a small dog, eh? They may even lead you to a adventure to find them for their running off spirit.

Do you believe that superheroes really exist? And if by any chance they do, they give their lives for humanity? I never used to believe that before, I know Stan Lee had shown too many people with superpowers in his show but none of them were heroes. So apparently, you can never go to sleep thinking that superheroes are watching over us and they will save us from alien invasion. But after I lived 15 years of my life thinking that superheroes don’t exist and X-men are not real, dad finally bought home our own personal superhero, Roxanne. Do you know what I am talking about? I’m talking about dogs. I’m not saying dogs are Underdog kind of superheroes but they are definitely our kind of superheroes who may not save us from alien invasion if the aliens turn out to be dog haters and kill our dogs, but they can surely save us from intruders, sadness, depression, boredom and so on (I don’t think aliens will kill a beautiful creature like dog. We are the one who is ruling the planet). Errr… even if the aliens turn out to be dog haters, dogs can surely make them love dogs like they have done to so many of humans.

Our superheroes in disguise have some real superpowers.

Night Vision:
Wolverine

Wolverine

We humans can clearly see 75 feet but dogs can only see up to 25 feet but dogs have in-build night vision like Wolverine. They can see clearly in dim light and detect mere motion. Yes, now you can freak out about their barking at the dark. Who knows, someone or something may be crawling in the darkest corners of your house! Well that can be a spider or a mouse too… or not!

Super Hearing:
Prick Ears

Prick Ears

Tilting their head whenever you call them or rotating their ears to catch sound frequency, explains their super sensitive hearing. They can detect the sound source from a great distance. Dogs with pointed ears are better in hearing sounds than those with their ears down. Though I doubt my dog, Roxanne, he could never find the original source of sound. He goes to all the echoes but never to the real sound.

Nose Prints:
Nose Print

Nose Print

Dog’s nose print is same as humans’ finger prints. Every dog has unique nose print. You can find out your dog by his nose print if you succeed to keep one. I think you will get plenty as they never stop smelling things.

Super Nose-y:
Nosey Nose

Nosey Nose

A dog’s sniffing power is 1000 times greater than that of a human. Human nose have 5 receptors whereas a dachshund has 150 receptors. Their super sniffing power explains why they are so nosy about everything and that also is the reason why they are being used to detect drugs, cancer, bed bugs, termite, blood sugar abnormalities and the list goes on.

Bad Hair Day:
Hair

Hair

Some dogs suffer from too much Bad hair day. They can grow 30 metres of fur… per day. That’s how they are entirely covered with fur.

We Understand, Humans:
Dog Human Relationship

Dog Human Relationship

Research shows that among the animals only dog can understand human emotions by looking at you. That’s why may be knowingly they play joker when you are sad. They can understand if you are angry, sad or happy just by looking at you.

Fat Burner:

Unlike us, dogs’ main energy sources come from the deposited fat in their body and not carbohydrates. By increasing fat in their diet you can increase their metabolism and endurance. Lucky them! And our body thinks we are going to need all that fat deposit someday!

Black and White:

Did you think that dogs can’t see colours? They can see colours but not as many as we do. The colour spectrum appears differently in their eyes. They are assumed to have dichromatic vision and they are not able to see colours from red to green but they can see yellow and some shades of green.

And the best unique superpower of dogs that no other superhero has?

The Best Relationship In The World

The Best Relationship In The World

They can make you laugh in your darkest moods. They can make the worst person of the planet a real person with those innocent soulful eyes. They’d do anything to make you happy; they’d do anything to protect you. They are your best friend, best therapist and best troublemakers but that puppy eyes of them will always stay in your heart no matter how bad they get, you can always find a reason to take the blame on yourself and forgive them.

With all their superpowers they make our lives a beautiful one, a happy one. In return we should take care of their happiness too. They get happy in very silly childish things. They don’t judge you, they never nag for things. All they want is walks in the park, food, barks at the postman and occasional treats. We can do that much for our super silly super dogs can’t we?

Dogs are with humans since a very long time. Almost all the countries in this world have some stories about dogs. People everywhere understood and kept these beautiful creatures with more beautiful mind, with them. And they have never turned us down till now. They stood by our sides as our best friends in our highs and lows.

Many countries have dogs in their folktales. And you know all the folktales have a little bit of truth in them. Let us have a look at the folktales of the Asian countries.

Mongolia:

Once upon a time there lived a greedy dog in Altai Mountains. One day while strolling around the greedy dog found a bone near a bridge on a river. He looked across the river and looked nicer on the other side so he decided to go to the other side and started walking on the bridge. As he looked down in the river he saw another dog with a bigger bone in his mouth. The greedy dog thought he could take two bones so he jumped on the river to fight his own reflection and lost his bone along with the other dog with a bone.

Korea:

Once upon a time in the kingdom of underworld, a woman came. The king asked her about the interesting things she had done. The woman was very poor and spent her entire life inside a cottage looking after her children and family, she couldn’t see the world, and she couldn’t help anybody. So the king sent her back to the earth as a dog. Meanwhile that woman’s son Choi’s dog gave birth to a puppy. The puppy was too gentle towards the family members and always protected the house with all her might. As the puppy grew up Choi decided to sell her as some of the villagers wanted to buy that splendid puppy and Choi needed some money desperately. But all of a sudden the puppy vanished and Choi looked for her everywhere but couldn’t find her. A Buddhist monk, who was passing by at that time, told Choi that the dog was actually her reincarnated mother. She is hiding because she doesn’t want to leave Choi. Choi remembered how the puppy looked at her and the puppy came back to him. From that day Choi travelled everywhere with his dog, rather with his mother. Till the day the dog died.

Japan:

Japan1152OldManDog-Hanasaka-jijii-11-20-73Photo

Once upon a time in a remote mountain town lived an old couple. One day when the old man was working in the field a puppy came to him crying because he was mistreated by a greedy old man who lived across the field. The old man took the dog in and named him Shiro (means white in Japanese) and took care of him like his own son. In return Shiro helped the old man in the field and looked after the family. One day when they were travelling over a mountain Shiro pointed somewhere in the soil and started digging, seeing that the old man joined him too and he found lots of gold. Soon the greedy old man heard about that and kidnapped Shiro. He asked Shiro to show where the gold was. Shiro began to whimper. The greedy old man thought that the gold was there and as he dug the soil tons of garbage and snakes came out. The angry greedy old man killed Shiro. The poor old couple was heartbroken they made a grave for Shiro and a sapling was born on that grave. One day the old woman thought Shiro loved rice. So they chopped the tree and made a mortar and started supplying rice in that mortar and the rice turned into gold. The greedy couple came to know about it and they stole the mortar. But when they put rice in it, the rice turned into mud. The angry old man burnt the mortar down. Disheartened poor old man brought the ashes back to his house. They thought they could grow some radish with those ashes as Shiro loved Radish. The old man started pouring the ashes to dead trees and the dead trees turned into beautiful Cherry trees. The king came to know about it and came to see the cherry tree garden. The king wanted to reward the old man, that’s when the greedy old man came and demanded that he was the great bloomer and sprinkled the left over ashes and the ashes choked the king. The king got angry and threw the greedy old man into the prison.

China:

chase

Once upon a time a man and his wife had a lucky ring. Whoever wore that ring could get enough to live on but the couple didn’t know that so they sold the ring for a little sum of money and they started to grow poorer and poorer. They had a cat and a dog. The cat and the dog decided to do something for their master. The dog had an idea. He told the cat that they could bring the ring back but the cat said the ring was in a chest which she can’t open. So the dog said that the cat could threaten a mouse to make a hole in the chest and bring the ring back. So they set out for the ring. On the way to the house where the chest was kept, there was a river. The cat couldn’t swim so the dog helped her cross the river. And cat reached to the house and threatened a mouse as planned. The cat got the ring and came back by the river where the dog was waiting. The cat kept the ring in his mouth and the dog crossed the river with the cat on his back. Both the creatures were excited to bring back the ring. So they ran. The cat reached first and gave the ring to her owners. The owners acknowledged the cat and promised to take care of her like their own son. Later when the dog came, they beat the dog because they thought that he didn’t help to bring the ring back and threw him out of the house while the cat remained silent. Since then the dog chases the cat whenever he sees her.

The cats are good pets. They are beautiful creatures to look and to spend your days with and to occasionally play staring contests with them. We all loved watching cartoons when we were kids. Well… some of us still love to watch them, exactly my point! Previously I have written about famous fictional dogs. Not only fictional, the famous cartoon dogs that made our childhood incredible! Now it’s the cue for our dear cats.

Meowth (Pokemon): This used to be my favourite show as a kid. Meowth wasn’t really a cat. None of the Pokemons were really any animal that we know of. May be that’s the reason why it was so interesting. Meowth was something very close to a cat. He was the sidekick of the stupid Team Rocket’s Jesse and James. He planned the kidnap of Pikachu so many times. He was a very rare Talking Pokemon.

Meowth

Meowth

Tom (Tom and Jerry Show): Tom is the most popular cat among all the cartoon cats. He is mainly popular for his rivalry with a crafty mouse, Jerry. It seems like Jerry possesses all the intelligence in the world.  He also has to deal with a dog spike. He is the real unfortunate one as Jerry and Spike sometimes become BFF.

Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry

Sylvester (Baby Looney Toons): You believe it or not Sylvester was bright. He always came up with plans to catch Tweety. He even chases mice sometimes but the poor cat cannot differentiate mice from Kangaroos. So sometimes he ends up chasing Kangaroos. Sylvester is one of the most popular looney toons and probably the only looney toon with so many career choices. Later he became he member of the detective agency along with Granny, Spike and Tweety but his main interest has always been to catch the bird and eat it.

Sylvester and Tweety

Sylvester and Tweety

Lucifer (Cinderella): The evil stepmother’s evil fat cat. If we see properly, the cat is not that evil, he just did his job. He caught mice but the story turned him into a wicked fat cat.

Lucifer

Duchess, Her Three Kittens and Thomas O’ Malley (Aristocats): Duchess and her three kittens Toulouse (the eldest ginger brother), Marie (mumma’s little white girl and Berlioz (the youngest grey kitten) were thrown out of the house by the butler as he discovers that the master has left everything to them at her will. The four cats’ journey starts after getting thrown out, to get back home. On their way of obstructions they meet Thomas O’ Malley, their friend in need, after Duchess meets Thomas the cat version of Lady and The Tramp starts with high society Duchess and Street smart Thomas.

Aristocats and Thomas O' Malley

Cheshire Cat (Alice in The Wonderland): The mad cat who actually helped Alice through that strange land. Can’t help mentioning the Hatter! I wonder how the cat beat the gravity. He made trouble and made things unnecessarily difficult. The utterly mad cat!

Cheshire Cat

Cheshire Cat

Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes): The tiger actually represents the cat family. Hobbes is actually a stuffed tiger but to Calvin He is as real as a day. I won’t say in Calvin’s imagination because I myself always believe in Hobbes. Hobbes is a big trouble and with Calvin’s super brain they are invincible pair of man and his best friend.

Calvin and Hobbes

Calvin and Hobbes

Tigger (Winnie The Pooh): Tigger is another big cat in Winnie the Pooh family. He uses his tail like a pogo stick and jumps all the way. He also has solution to all the crazy problems in Pooh-ville, which hardly works though but you can’t blame the tiger. The tiger’s job is to play all day long and live happily with a bear, a piglet, a donkey, a kangaroo family, a beaver, an owl and a little kid. You can’t expect a tiger to solve problems or hunt to eat. What a cute Tiger!

Tigger

Tigger

Simba (The Lion King): Everyone’s favourite tiger and a member of the big cat family. His story is bittersweet. After losing the kingdom, his family and everything he gained two true friends Timon and Pumba and went on a strict insect diet until he found his lost love back and regained his throne. The best Disney story and character so far.

Simba

Simba

Oggy and his big brother Jack (oggy and the Cockroches): The two fed up cats. They are fed up because they have pest problem in their house and the pest problem is big enough to send them even to the space. Three cockroaches are all their problems, three immortal cockroaches. Oggy is a blue cat and his big brother is green and an ex-army.

Jack and Oggy

Jack and Oggy

And Garfield: The most widely known cartoon cat, a cat with lots of cat-titude. He is a ginger fat cat. He is mostly known for being too lazy to do anything else other than eating Lasagne, taking naps, eating Lasagne, teasing the dog, watching nightmares by asking them, sleeping on his owner’s face and again eating Lasagne.

The cat’s daily routine.

Wakes up at sometime in the morning when he is hungry. Wakes Kevin up. Eats some food then sleeps again in front of Kevin so that he gets angry for getting awaken. Then when Kevin starts jumping and running because he is late for his work, the cat sits in a higher ground and watches Kevin and the dog. Yes. The stupid dog always follows Kevin around the house whenever he is in a hurry. Furball, the cat almost feels sorry for Mudball the dog. But sometimes the thought crosses Furball’s mind that the dog might want to just annoy Kevin. Then after a long homerun Kevin finally leaves the house and that’s how the cat’s reign starts. He takes over the house and scares the dog in every way possible.

After Kevin leaves for work, the cat acquires a higher ground to lick himself clean and to watch over the dog. Sometimes he comes and sleeps beside the dog when and sometimes he makes the dog stand so that he can play peek-a-boo with the dog’s legs. The cat loves the dog but he has his own ways to express it. When Mudball is not around his bed, Furball sleeps on his bed with Mudball’s favourite chew toy and even after Mudball comes back and looks at the cat helplessly, Furball doesn’t leave the place. And when Mudball tries to push Furball off of his bed, the great cat slaps Mudball or fluffs his fur to scare him. He just simply doesn’t give up on the places he acquires.

The Fight

The Fight

Chew Toy Fight

Chew Toy Fight

The Dog’s daily routine.

The dog wakes up when he needs to go to outside. He wakes Kevin up and becomes his constant companion until he leaves for work. Sometimes, while accompanying Kevin he lies down on the ground and Kevin stumbles over. That’s the best time of the day when Kevin tumbles over and breaks his nose or something and curses the dog. That totally makes Mudball’s day. But the day is still not over. After Kevin leaves for work Furball scares him. Sometimes by affection and sometimes by purely scaring him.

Sometimes, when Mudball goes to the toilet to drink water from the toilet, Furball takes over his bed and favourite chew toy and scares him off when he tries to get them back. Poor Mudball goes and sleeps in a corner. He doesn’t always like the cat. Bad cat!

While Kevin is away, Mudball has so much to do. He makes a list so he doesn’t forget.

Mudball’s To-Do list,

  • Sleep.
  • More sleep.
  • Drink water from the toilet (it’s better done when Kevin is not around).
  • Annoy the cat.
  • Try to get back the dog kingdom (which is basically a dog bed and some chew toy and a sock).
  • Bark at the postman.
  • Bark at the neighbour’s dog.
  • Bark at the birds.
  • Pretend something has happened just to make the cat curious and leave the dog kingdom.
  • Stand for the cat because he loves to play peek-a-boo.

When everything is done Mudball and Furball wait for Kevin at the door and about time Kevin shows up. The dog gets happy. The second best time of the day. The cat waits at a distance for Kevin to come up and pet him.

When Kevin Returns

When Kevin Returns

Then they go to the park. But the cat doesn’t always feel like going. So he stays back and gets some sleep or when he goes with them he simply watches Kevin and Mudball play fetch. It’s hard to tell who is fetching the flying saucer. They both seem worked up. And sometime Kevin runs in four legs to ply with the dog. And when it rains they get dirty in the mud. The cat is the clean royal creature. He never mixes himself up with those two. When they get dirty both of them smell like dog and the cat never understand why they becomes so happy after a good mud bath. The cat simply goes there to babysit two creatures with very low IQ.

Playing with Kevin is the best thing for Mudball and it gets better when there’s so much mud. Mudball becomes an actual Mudball and he doesn’t spare Kevin. All of them get home when the cat is done with satisfying his curiosity on neighbours.

They get home, they eat food, and they watch TV. They cuddle together. Kevin tells them stories. And then when Kevin works they sit beside him with occasional attention seeking behaviours. The cat sleeps on Kevin’s lap, the dog barks at nothing so that Kevin understands that he is here. Furball and Mudball stare at Kevin and then they eat and sleep.

The day doesn’t end here. At 3.00 AM in the morning Mudball wakes Kevin up for taking him to the garden. And when Kevin takes him to the garden, instead of peeing, he just sniffs things. Then at around 4 o’ clock Furball wakes Kevin up because he is hungry.

But with all their faults they are the best pets in the world. To Kevin, to us because every pet owner thinks that their pets are the best and every one of them is right. :)
