We live in a world brimming with competitions. Everyone is competing with the other to stay on top, in terms of money, lifestyle and status. Hectic work schedules, hard manual labour, sweaty toil has become a part and parcel of our daily lives. td 1

But with this continuous drudgery comes unrestrainable exhaustion and weariness besides several other boldily troubles. It is an undoubted factor that with the growing work-pressure and excess mental stimulation charging us, increasing number of diseases are also moving on a parallel path attacking human beings.  Heat diseases, Artherities, Spondylitues(cervical and muscular), Diabetes and a host of other chronic conditions are on the go, dooming us for a lifetime worth suffering.

td 2

The real pleasure of working hard in order to be independent and self secured, enough to live life lavishly, is never fulfiled. In one way greed is condemning us to a more early death, leaving our hard-earned money to rot for years.  But life is all about this. Its best to get accustomed. While ‘Therapy’ always helps us teach there. It literally means “curing, healing” and “is the attempted remediation of a health problem”. A man’s best friend is always a healer. Feel wonderful to know that your pet feline or canine friend is your best therapist. You return home, tired and unwell, but you feel elated to see your dog jumping and howling on the doorway or your cat giving that amazing catty smile from a distance; this is how the therapy works wonder. Just a quality time with your beloved pet is all that you desire after a tiring day at office. You dog’s unconditional love makes you forget all your worries and the cat’s pleasant mew fills you in with vigour and rejuvination. A pet animal at home is an important key to good health. They are used as companions to help in the recovery and well being of stroke victims, decrease patient anxiety, increase sensory stimulation, ward off depression and also assist teens at juvenile detention centers and those with developmental disabilities.

td 3
A therapy dog is a dog trained to provide affection and comfort to people in hospitals, disaster areas and to people with learning difficulties. During World War 2, Corporal William Wyne found an adult female Yorkshire Terrier abandoned on the battlefield. He named it Smoky. Smoky began as a therapy dog when Wyne was hospitalized and later continued for 12 long years. Golden Retrievers are excellent therapy dogs. They are used in health care institutes. The health care professionals noticed the theraputic effects of animal companionship like relieving stress, lowering blood pressure, raising mood and henceforth the demand for therapy dogs have continued to grow. They supposedly help children overcome speech and emotional disorders. They are useful in building self-confidence.
A cat can be a more cute and adorable pet as she can provide real therapy. By interacting with people or by simply purring or being petted, cats or felines often work miracle. Cats provide their own brand of unconditional love and comfort. The most important characteristic of a Therapy Cat is its temperament. They must be friendly, confident, gentle and at ease in all situations. They are trained to help ailing humans in a medically beneficial way to take advantage of the human-animal interaction for purpose of relaxation and healing. Stroking or cuddling a cat can have a positive effect on your health. This makes the cat ideal for the elderly, especially nursing home residents. They are valuable when interacting with Alzheimer patients, by stimulating both memory and forgotten emotions. In our daily lives, cats are excellent stress busters. Picture this. You come home feeling like it was like the worst day of your life. Work is stressing you out, bills are due. Your cat quickly gives you a meow and jumps to your lap. As you run your fingers through the white fur, she purrs, you relax and is thankful that your feline friend knew exactly what you needed.
Animal Assisted Therapy is a kind of therapy that involves animals as a form of treatment. Its goal is to improve patient’s social, emotional or cognitive functioning. They can be domesticated, farm animals or even marine animals. Advocates state that animals can be useful for educational and motivational effectivess for participants.td 4

Research always states that the relationship between humans and companion animal is always favourable. There is nothing quite like the warmth of a cold nose or the touch of the soft fur. Cuddling up a pet animal friend can boost your spirits. Years back when Bryce Greenwell was diagonised with leukamia and had to undergo treatments for more than three years, his mother found it amazing to find the tolerance level of his son staring high. A little pup named Smoosh made his hospital visits much bearable. Bryce got excited everytime he saw Smoosh. The doctors found it interesting to know that the dog was making a difference, that interaction was making a difference. This gave the kid a welcome distraction.  “There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face”. True that. Bring a home a pet and you will understand better

Cats have their own poignancy and grace. Their white body texture is pleasant to the eyes. Their naive attitude is appealing and their soft mew is soothing. Cats are the most hassle free animal as a pet. They will love you, not demand much attention from you, observe you from a distance and will give ocassional smiles when you look at her. Cats can give you unconditional and un-measured love. Cats are even worshipped as a divine goddess, variedly in different cultures, and have been associated with spirituality for ages. An active cat will run around, jump and have a playful spirit, thus rejuvinating your mood from a tiring day at office.
But what happens when your cat is pregnant? How do you take care of her when she is expecting? Is she 4 months old, getting a round tummy and being super sweet to you for no reason? She may be pregnant. If your cat was in heat and had access to a whole male cat, the likehood of her being pregnant is very strong. A pregnant queen will show both physical and personality changes which will become evident around three weeks after breeding. The gestation period for cats is from 60-67 days. However it can be as small as 56 days or even as long as 72 days.
Ordinary domestic short hair and long haired cats are very fertile. Litter size averages four or five kittens. For some reason Siamese cats also have larger kittens. Persians and other fancy breeds tend to be less fertile.
cp 1

This term Gestation means the period when the young are developing in the mother’s uterus( pregnancy). There are no practical blood or urine tests available for early diagnosis or pregnancy in the cat. The earliest possible time of diagnosis may be 3-4 weeks after breeding, when the doctor may be able to detect pregnancy by feeling the abdomen. At 6 weeks of Gestation, X-rays are 95% accurate when used to count the number of offspring. The cat gestation period is generally defined in most textbooks as: the number of days between a ‘successful mating’ and the birth or parturition of the fully developed kitten.
Female cats often require several several matings over several days in order to ovulate and become pregnant and the cat breeder or pet owner, unsure as to which of these witnessed matings is the so-called successful one, often cannot tell where to start the count from. A pregnant queen will not show signs of heat, although this is not a guarantee of pregnancy. After approximately 15-18 days, the nipples become enlarged and red, known as ‘pinking-up’. She may also become sick ocassionally, which may be a form of morning sickness. Your cat will gradually gain between one and two kilograms, depending on the number of kittens. This is a sort of indication that she is pregnant. It can be accurately diagonised by ultrasound after as few as 15 days with hearts beating from 17 days. The abdomen will start to swell, but one shouldn’t touch it to avoid the risk of damaging the babies. Also the cat’s behaviour may become maternal and she may begin to ‘purr’ a lot. Your cat will become more affectionate and want more of your affection. An increase in appetite will also be noticed after-all she is not only feeding herself but also her several foetus’s. As pregnancy advances, your cat will exhibit “nesting behaviour”. She will begin to search for a place to deliver her kittens like closets, cupboards, under the bed and other such secluded places.

A veterinary exam early in pregnancy is a good idea to check on the cat’s health. An ultrasound can detect pregnancy as early as the second week. It is very important to take full care of your cat with proper nutrition and excellent medical treatment. Most cats are capable of looking after themselves during pregnancy, but there are still a number of ways you can help.
*Pregnant cats need extra boost of protein and energy to help them through this period of physical stress. Extra nutrients are required both during gestation and some weeks after birth. The additional calories is what she needs. The cat suffers from mild sensitivities and there is a variety of delicate kitten formula food available. A commercially produced kitten formula is better for the cat’s health and is an added advantage during weaning. Fortunately pregnant cats are sensible eaters. Most cats regulate their daily intake to suit their needs. Consulting a vet if her appetite drops or loses weight is higly recommended.
* To achieve the needed energy to handle pressure of unborn kittens, it’s best to give her lots of smaller meals throughout the day and to ensure its availability on a continuous basis. Also fresh water intake is a must. There should be a steady increase in body weight concurrent with increased food intake. It’s completely normal since she will lose her excess during 3-4 weeks of the nursing period.
* Vaccinations should be up-to date, prior to breeding. Healthy mothers pass on immunity to her children in the first milk they produce, so it’s good to ensure anti-body levels are at their peak. However, one should remember that some vaccinations are not safe during pregnancy.
* It’s important to worm your pet your cat during pregnancy to prevent her passing worms to her kittens via her milk. Flea treatment may also be required during pregnancy, again by your vet to ensure you use a safe product for unborn kittens. Avoid any supplementary or complementary medicines as they are not safe.
* Unless your dog is a qualified pedigreed breeder, your female cat should be sprayed. It will not only cease the uncomfortable heat cycles, but prevent certain medication problems. The doctor should be able to give your female cat hormones to stop the uterus, if immediate spraying is not possible because female cats as young as four months can go into uterus.
cp 2

* Complications during pregnancy is uncommon usually limited to miscarriages. Infectitious diseases can be the cause if your cat does miscarry. It’s important that we always employ excellent breeding practices regarding hygiene and seperation of pregnant and non-pregnant cats. Affected cats will show signs of twitching, agitation, nervousness. A diet low in nutrients will predispose them to this condition.
cp 4

* After birth, newborn kittens are entirely dependent on mother’s milk for the first few weeks of life. A new mother requires a lot of energy to feed a litter of curious kittens. Depending on the number of kittens, she may eat four times her normal food intake while nursing. Only after weaning, as mum begins to lose interest in nursing and her kittens shift to eating solid food, should your cat move back to a normal regular diet.
To understand that your cat is going to labour, usually about two days before giving birth, her mammary glands will secrete milk. Your cat’s temperature will decrease to about 99° F and you will notice a drop in her appetite. She will become restless, pace from room to room, can begin meowing, purring, panting, licking her genitals and can also vomit. You can then notice a vaginal discharge and eventually contractions. And the birth procedure begins.

Here is the real truth about cats and dogs- they are just not as desirable as they used to be to a new generation of pet lovers. These days exotic is the new buzzword when it comes to having a pet- and from horses to guinea pigs, parakeets and white mice, Indians are increasingly choosing the more unusual option. And when they do opt for a cat or a dog, there is an unique request like a Brown Labrador or a Persian cat. Exotic is the new trend and people are hugely buying into it.
People are becoming more experimental about the kind of pets they want, especially small animals which they can easily keep in smaller places and flats. But even as animal breeders seek to introduce new varieties into the country, ultimately for most pet owners, there is only one reason to choose an animal, bird, fish or a more exotic creature and that’s the love, affection, companionship they receive from their pets.
You are in the market for a new pet, but cats are too insolent, dogs are too subservient and tropical fish can’t garner any envy from your neighbour. There is no need for despair, as there is a massive- and mostly legal exotic pet business that makes the rare, the freakish and the wildly expensive companions available for purchase.
There is a seperate allure of owing exotic pets. A Menagerie in the house, snakes wrapped around any kind of a post, rhesus monkeys leaping from counter to counch, lions sunning themselves on your gravel driveway, capuchins and bears and wolves hugging you and clambering over you; the experience or if an imagination in itself will be awesome. They are the most unusual animals kept in captivity and there can be a difficulty in meeting their needs. But this challenge is a must if you house exotic animals, under the law of Animal Welfare Act.
FENNEC FOX is a small desert fox, one of the most popular mammals because they thrive with the owner being more ‘easier’ to manage. Unlike other foxes they make good house pets. They are high maintenance animals but are harmless.
BENNET’S WALLABY are simply too small, unlike kangaroos. They come with no possible threat and should be kept in a sufficient pen with available shelter. They thrive in domestic settings after adolescence and are cool and calm to handle.
ep 2

SUGAR GLIDER are popular marsupials who weigh not more than five ounces. Their lively and curious nature help them bond with the humans. They are social and nocturnal and tend to seek attention. They need suitable environment and diet which sometimes become a matter of concern.
KINKAJOU are nocturnal rainforest mammals, friendly and affectionate and therefore can enjoy human companionship. They have sharp, carnivorous teeth, marshmallows and gummi bears. This preserves their wicked, bacteria loaded bite for when scared.

ep 1
BENGAL CATS have no relation to the Bengal Tiger but is a hybrid creation featuring pre-designed genetic characteristics that are cross-bred with the likes of something more exotic like an Asian Leopard cat. The result is a new feline breed that acts more like a mellow domestic but looks like he just walked off the Savannah plains. The more pure bred the cat, the more costly it is.ep 3
MUNTJAC DEER are kept by some as House Pets as they are unique to their larger counterparts. They reach the size of a large housecat, are extremely affectionate and thrive with proper human care. A deer indoors can sound a bit bizarre to your neighbour but they are excellent pets, apart from the owner’s dealing with the chewing habit of this species.
SPOTTED GENET are wild African exotic mammals, attractive due to their harmless intimidating look. They are higly energetic nocturnal and arboreal ‘cat-ferret’. They combine several good qualities of other animals as well as possessing some of their own, making a rewarding pet for the right owners. They are skittish, hate to e restrained by human’s; scratch marks can be expected. Every Gennet owner knows their animal’s behaviour well.
BOBCATS are great pets; a small exotic feline, correct for homes but the trouble is deciphering how the ‘right owner’ of these animals are. Bobcat owners must be willing to fully anticipate issues like spraying, aggression, the need for outdoor enclosures and other modifications to accomodate potentially destructive factors, whether they occupy or not.
CAPYBARA AND PANTAGONIAN CAVIES are the world’s largest rodent clocking in at 150+ pounds and their alone world could arouse interest from the non-exotic pet owner’s crowd. Pantagonians are small, terrestrial versions who just require some room to roam and obviously aren’t dangerous.
ep 5

The word ‘exotic’ can frighten many people but little do many people know that when they support exotic pet bans, they may be empowering bans for their own pets. The word ‘exotic’ was never synonymous to the words “large” and “dangerous” but this is what people associate them with. Animal Rights Groups are not ignorant to the word- they just keep quiet on their anti-position towards more common and less overtly threatening animals such as hedge dogs and other reptiles. Housing Exotic creatures can sound a little weird and can even invite objection from your neighbour, but you enter into a completely unique pet world which thus becomes an experience of a lifetime. No wonder, your attachment with them becomes exotic and memorable.

Celebrities can’t resist sharing photos of their four-legged friends and we can’t resist looking at them. These celebrities are known for an elegant lifestyle, high thinking, frequent pampering and beautification and are holders of rich possession. We, the commoners love our pets as much as they do. We do everything possible to keep our pets comfortable and happy forever. We leave no effort to consider them our family member. But some animals are just born lucky, perhaps with a golden spoon in mouth. They live lavishly like their owners do. But on the other hand, we are able to care for our pet on the basis of our affordability. That does not, at any cost, mean to fake our idealization towards them. All pets deserve to be treated like royalty, according to the standards set by their respective owners. Some pets live their lives king size, some live ordinary. The standard of living and the kind of treatment these celebrity pets receive is often better than how the normal humans are treated.
Fame is a fickle game which is why most celebrities rely on their trusty four legged friends for company. A dog is a celeb’s best friend and a cat her closest pal. These pampered pooches go with them everywhere- to work, to the park, to shows and even walk on the red carpet. From Kate Moss’s Staffordshire mix Archie, these stylish pups are the cutest and the most fun accessories to be seen with.
cp 2

Imagine the level of treatment they are given. They just do not sleep under any bed or lie in a corner of the house. They have their own palacial doghouses to live in, custom made according to its need and wants. They are suitably made to fit in the dog’s size. They may even have automatic temperature controlled swimming pools to have fun in. Even a flat screen television set completes the decoration of their home. Personal trainers are available at their bark and growl. They have frequent visits to the pet parlour for massages, face masks and foot spa since these luxury pampering keep them healthy and fit. Travelling also happens in an incredible style. Air conditioned cars, private jets in the company of their affluent owners, five star cruise liners for overseas journey- these animals just deserve to live an extravagent lifestyle.
They say every dog has it’s day, but if its Paris Hilton’s pups, atleast it takes place in your very own private mansion. The fate of the other dogs is easily overlooked when you walk into the two- storey palace complete with a winding staircase, pink walls and a balcony to look upon the entire kingdom made exclusively for your pups. Paris Hilton has made it large for her Chichuahua. Her dog can relax on the leather armchairs and plush couches, or even sunbath by the poolside. And there are plenty of toys around to never get bored with. Hilton, the Hotel Heiress also keeps a pig and says that ‘She is not a princess but her pig, Piglette is.’ This famous celebrity has designed a range of accessories for her Tinkerbell. She feels so lucky to wear dog apparel specially tailored for her, therefore making her a world fashion branded dog. Paris is extremely possessive of her and she is usually found peeping out of the Socialite’s designer handbag sporting a channel jacket and shades. This dog lives in high style. Paris knows how to pamper her pooch.
Celebrities love bringing their pets to the limelight.

cp 3

justin Beiber calls himself an animal person. But we may recall the international drama that unfurled when his pet Capuchin monkey was confiscated at a German Airport. Now the little unfortunate guy is living it up at a wildlife refuge. Immediately afterwards he brought a new flurry Bulldog puppy home. These star people take on to the different social networking sites, by snapping selfies and group pictures with them, all to show off their pets. Even within the celebrity world, the stars compete with the others on the more number of pets they can afford and the extent of lavishness they give to their animals.
cp 1

There are instances where a celebrity has left half of all their property and inheritance to their pet’s welfare, instead of giving it to some other family member or a closest friend. The documents clearly state that those millions of dollars are in the name of their darling companions. After the pet dies, the remaining cash goes as donation to several charities.
Being driven around by a chauffeur, having a manicure and travelling first class are things we expect from the celebrities. And of the pet belongs to the rich and famous, it can also expect the same. Dog crazy diva singer Mariah Carey is said to spend an eye watering amount of 28,000 dollars a year to keep her eight pooches groomed to a Hollywood standard.
cp 4

A celebrity life is usually more extraordinary than their non-celebrity counterparts. But there are many quality of life components that make up for a good life and being a celebrity pet doesn’t necessarily equal to a day to day existence of “Pawdicures” (pet pedicures). Just because a person is well known as a media fixture, doesn’t mean that their lives are perfect. It has its own perks. Similarly a celebrity pet does not inherently have a better life. We think that they are lucky to become a faithful companion of some rich person but the media has documented several circumstances where pets once bought or adopted are later carried along as a mere accessory, left in a confined place or even suffer neglect and abuse. A celeb’s financial capacity to look after an animal may exceed that of a normal person- extra care, health care, beautification, veterinary medical checkups, high quality food- but not every owner, however rich, has time for their pets. The veterinary care may come free with the paparazzi in the comfortable confines of their own homes as several celebrities want to maintain their anonymity and can afford a house call. Mire disposable income allows for other pet benefits like specialized care such as cancer treatment, dentistry, dermatalogy, internal medicines, Opthalmology and surgery which we might not be able to afford for them. The most expensive special offerings available for pooches is “I love dogs” collection of custom jewelled dog collars which makes them elated with joy.
Celebrity pets often have certain facilities that are seemingly unavailable to the ordinary pet but providing the best quality of life isn’t just exclusive to the cats, dogs and other species owned by the rich.
cp 5

Celebs can arrange for a 24 hour help who can take care of the animal in their absence. This ensures that their pet is safe and he could rejuvinate himself in their company after coming back home from work. Many celebrities make the living arrangement of their pets at par with his/her own in fully serviced suits. The great amount of money and the copious overflow of ghastly richness and splendor showered on these pets make them popular enough to be celebrities themselves.
In the next segment I will talk about the really famous celebrities and their pets.

In the previous article, I spoke about how the pets of today’s celebrities have already made a highlight in the media world and glorified themselves.
cp 10

The odds of being a celebrity are very slim. It’s not easy to make your place in the world of Hollywood and Bollywood. But those who have ‘one’ have already made it large for themselves. Being respected by name and reputation alone, turning heads as you walk down the streets, being asked for autographs; the public life of the famous seems glamorous and desirable for many of us. And we are even curious to know about their private lives.
Privately the celebrities are like us in many ways. Although they live lavishly and in well-serviced suits, without much of sweating and caring about their mounting electricity bills, the huge amount of money which they earn are willingly put into the service of others. Besides they love housing animals. Keeping pets has become a recent trend and among the celebrities it’s surging high.
cp 11

Who would have thought Dirty Harry to have such a soft spot for a wild animal as inconsequential as a squirrel? Clint Eastwood’s best friend is a squirrel who lives near his office on the Paramount lot. Carrie Underwood, the country star always keeps her two dogs, Ace and Penny close. Tennis star ANDY RODDICK announced his retirement from professional tennis and then recently adopted a Bulldog. Mario Lopez spends his spare time swimming with his french bulldog, Julio. Julio’s twitter account has more than 3000 followers. Selena Gomez’s dogs may be from all different places but all the five are rescues, brought from the shelter, parking lot and even on location from a movie shot. The five pooches that found their way into the Gomez household, each have an unique story. Besides her own dog Baylor is already a grown up boy. TORI SPELLING and DEAN McDERMOTT, the reality star couple went a little exotic for their newest pets, choosing two ducklings. Taylor Swift’s cat Meredith is a famous feline. MILEY CYRUS was in some happy parenting practice with her dogs. In April 2014, she lost her beloved pet dog, Floyd, after which she gave away her another newly adopted puppy Mooney, revealing that she isn’t ready to give her heart away to another dog soon after Floyd’s death.
cp 13

Our Bollywood celebs have always been in love with their pets. Stars talk about how their dog gives them unconditional love and how much they mean to them. They love to be greeted by a loving animal at the end of a hard day’s work. Koena Mitra is known around for her love for dogs. She is a proud owner of eight dogs, varying in breeds from Terriers to Poodle. She loves going on late night drives and feeding them Royal Canin six days a week. Salman Khan may be lacking in his love life, but he makes up for it with his affection for dogs. His first two pets, Bull-mastiffs, Myson and Myjaan, passed away, leaving him grieving for a long time. He now has two others, Myson and Mylove (quirky names, we know!) This bachelor maintains a dog blog and writes that he learns patience and forbearence from them. Their love is timeless and beautiful, which is the highest kind of love. Amitabh Bachchan, Big B, for him a big dog will suffice. Enter Shanouk, his precious Great Dane. Priyanka Chopra is a complete dog person. She loves her Cocker spaniel, Brando. PETA activist Shilpa Shetty has a perkingese dog called Champagne and two other persian cats.
cp 14

Tushar Kapoor loves shopping goodiesand toys for his two dogs, Whiskey and Risky. The Badshah king Shahrukh Khan has four dogs. Dash( japanese chin) Hulk( labrador) Kai and Juicy( maltese). His pet dogs give him much solace. Most celebrities announce that having a pet gives them certain theraputic benefits, given the number of scandals and controversies they come across everyday. Sonam Kapoor believes in promotion of pet adoption. Her are pooches called Coke, Barcadi and Feathers. Yesteryear diva Rekha owns a dog named Shiva. Kalki Kochelin is the first cat person in the entire list and loves spending time with her kitty, Dosa, who she acquired from a stray animal shelter.
Animals and birds have also remained a part of movies and several small screen shows. They have outshone the leading actors but no award categories exist for them par excellence and their contribution to the film’s success. Famous dog like Tuffy, the Pomeranian, has now become a household pet name. Several classic animal themed films have been made. Pets are the truest and loyal friend of any man. They are adorable, cute and with a delicate personality. Every film industry has accepted this fact and from time to time have produced movies that have pet animals as their central character. Rin Tin Tin was a canine filmstar who rose to fame during the silent era of Hollywood. ‘Rinty’ as he was popularly known went on to star in 27 other films. ‘Hachi: A Dog’s Tale’ based on a real life incident got highly positive reviews. ‘The Ugly Dashshund’ is a film about a Great Dane Puppy, ‘Benji’ became a classic of its own type and narrated the story of a stray dog, ‘Scooby Doo’ is a popular detective dog of the animation world and ‘Snowy’ is a faithful Fox Terrier of the hero Tintin, a sought- after and a central character in every Adventures of Tintin series. We love watching ‘Stuart Little’ for the little mouse and his sheer brilliance, his love for his owners and the nostalgia associated with their seperation. And we do love the cat Snowbell for his evil yet good natured behaviour.
Animals have always been highly acclaimed in the celebrity world. They are respected and loved equally. They are considered a vital part of the human world, of human emotions and relationships. Nobody ever denies in considering them beloved. Hence, it comes without any doubt that the vigour and vitality of their styles and the impressiveness of their lifestyles are worth snatching the limelight. cp 15

Many breeds of dogs popularly kept today are said to be ‘Spitz’ dogs or ‘Spitz type dogs’. If you’ve been looking at a variety of different breeds and types of dogs with a view to finding out the perfect future pet or companion for you and the entire family, you may have possibly heard the term in usage and wonder what kind of a dog it is and also, whether, a Spitz dog might be worthy of consideration as a future pet.
Spitz is generally characterized by their pointed ear and elongated muzzle and thick, dense fur which often contains a significant amount of white pigmentation. Their tail naturally curls up over the back of the dog to some degree. The term Spitz is not a breed in itself, nor does it refer to dogs of any particular breed. It’s more of ‘type’ identification and dogs of the Spitz type often bear a passing or sometimes strong resemblance to wolves. Recent genetic testing of a range of dogs of Spitz type shows that they originate from both deliberate and accidental mating of both domestic and wild dog packs with wolves. A significant number of dogs classed as Spitz originate from East Asia and the Arctic regions. While the word Spitz is Germanic in origin and a significant number have been bred in Germany during their relatively recent history, various factors that make up the Spitz typing are not believed to be indigenously Germanic

. sp 4
Dogs which fall under the heading of Spitz type may come from a wide variety of different breeds. The range of dogs most usually considered to be Spitz and having the universal traits of that type include Alaskan Malamute, American Akita, Canaan Dog, Chow- Chow, Finish Spitz, German Spitz, Greenland Dog, Labrador Husky, Siberian Husky, West Siberian Laika.
Spitz is extremely cute dogs. One of the most distinctive and uniting factors common to all of them is their dense, often luxurious coat, which comprise of two layers; a long fine tapcoat and a thick insulating undercoat of coarser hair. A dog with a coat of this type requires considerable grooming to avoid matted fur and associated problems. Dust ad licks found in their fur makes it uncomfortable for the dogs. Brushing is not enough because a brush takes care of only the top layer of fur and a comb, if used to groom the dog down to the skin, will have to deal with knots and mats within the fur.
Spitz is loyal, good natured and inquisitive and relatively easy to train, although they can be prone to stubbornness and need firm direction and consistent handling. They inherently have a lot of stamina and endurance which helps them run over long distances etc. They are always brimming with excess of energy and hence need a large amount of space to walk around, roam freely and do energetic exercise for proper utilization of their energy. They are generally good with children and other pets. They are very active since they are bred for work. Spitz love to bark and we adore a barking Spitz at home, although outsiders and guests can find it scaring. Some people are too petrified of Spitz because of their ‘non-stop barking nature’. They are real smart animals; they get bored easily, try to grab your attention and if not given, they know well how to manage it from you. It will not eat unless you feed it. It will hover all around you until your attention falls on him and if guests are at home, they sniff so carefully from head to toe unless they make sure that you are perfect and not an evil intruder.
sp 1

In warm seasons, it is of utmost importance for you to perform regular checks on your Spitz for fleas and ticks. There are numerous ways to avoid this problem which includes shredding the fur, using flea comb to find fleas etc. If she is exposed to mosquitoes often, she may carry heat-worms with her. As a result, she might die early. In some moderate climatic areas, veterinarians advise preventive worm medication throughout the year. Male Indian Spitz need to be neutered-and the females sprayed- removal of ovaries and uterus by 6 months of age. This reduces female breast cancer possibility. Prostate diseases, testicular cancer, some Hernias and certain types of aggression can be prevented by neutering males. The yearly cost of rearing the Indian Spitz- to include food and snacks, to vet bills, toys and license- is not much high.

sp 3
The Indian Spitz is a dog type belonging to the utility group and was once an excellent farm worker found in India. As pets, they are playful and kind towards the humans. They love to chase their own tail and are quiet athletic. They adapt an aggressive nature if not treated properly. They learn to perform many impressive tricks and tasks. They are quiet clever and can understand human intentions very well. When properly socialized from a young age from a young age, the Indian Spitz gets along well with small children and other pets, often making friends quickly due to its social nature. These dogs adapt well to indoor and apartment living. They are obedient, loyal, loving and affectionate, making an excellent hunting dog, family pet and companion alike. They are superb watch dogs and strangers will be greeted with yapping shrill barks. Their diet is very adaptable and can include anything from milk, rice and yogurt to a rice and chicken diet. The point of obesity should also be kept in mind.

Birds are gentle, delicate and charming animals. They do not want to ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls or jump through rings of fire, but birds in circuses have no choice. Trainers use abusive tools, including whips and electric prods, to force them to perform. These animals also suffer from loneliness, boredom and frustration from being locked in cramped cages or chained for months on end as they travel from city to city. Instead of being loaded and unloaded like mere furniture into the trucks and warehouses, these animals should be in their natural habitat- exploring, seeking mates and raising families. Even better, they deserve love and affection from the humans when kept as pets.
Birds in circuses lead an endless life of torture and confinement. They are forcefully trained and compelled to perform under the threat of beatings. Circuses portray a distorted view of the birds- limiting their access to the basic necessities of food and drink, unjustly treating them, gifted with harsh abuses and intolerable seclusion at any point of time. They are bound to suffer. Birds in circuses are also kept in horrendous conditions. They are kept in confinement and their wings are clipped to stop them from flying away. They are abandoned if the circus cannot afford them anymore.

COCK_FIGHT

Roosters are often raised for fighting. They are kept in strong enclosures and tormented to make them more aggressive. Razor sharp spurs are attached to the bird’s feet to make fights more exciting. The birds suffer from broken wings and legs, fractured, punctured lungs, severed spinal cords and gouged-out eyes. Those who die during or after the fight can be called the lucky ones because the survivors are forced to fight again. Although cockfighting is illegal under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960, many birds are forced to fight to death every year in different parts of the country. Gambling is the rule of cockfighting. Young children find such bird fights very fascinating which is another way for showing insensitiveness towards animal suffering and result in further kinds of cruelty and maltreatment for the birds.
“But for the use for physical punishment by, and fear of their oppressors; animals would never be a part of circus”, Richard Pryor, an American actor and comedian once quoted. Life in circus is miserable. Forcing to do certain activities only for the sake of the fun of others is an extreme cruel attitude of the humans deserves no applaud. Birds are sensitive and belong to the wild nature. They should be free. Birds look lovely when they are unloosened and fly around liberately.

bird 2

Many types like Harrier birds, Parrots, Macaws are popularly known to be kept in circuses and their fate is inter-wined with the tragic circus life for ages. This however comes with limited refinements and absolute nil license to independence. Have you ever given it a thought that despite the showy advertisements, circus life is agonizing. Barbarity and fear tactics, intimidation is what they rely on to force birds to unnatural and confusing tricks. They do not get love and care. They probably even do not know what it is. Instead of slowly progressing towards a brutal death, birds need a home to survive and someone to take care of it well. It is only the humans who can be the best caretakers for them, not through beatings but rather tender care and concern. Adding a new pet bird to your family brings lots of happiness and joy along with it. They are perfect pets that will fit with your lifestyle without taking much time. Apartment living makes the birds look attractive and they shine in glory. They are always brimming with energy and we make sure to channel their efficacy in the correct direction, without any force or bestiality.
bird 3

There are several reasons why birds don’t belong to the circus.
* Birds are extremely intelligent animals. They have a remarkable capacity to learn new things. They use their brains differently. They make a delightful pet to owners dedicated to constantly enriching the bird’s environment. How much fun would it be to have a pet actually talk to you.
*Birds are easier to care as pets. All they need is love and consideration. They do not need much attention throughout the day. Daily walks or feeding is not a headache. While it’s true that a bird can stay free inside a house, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are less demanding. Birds aren’t pretty cage ornaments. So while the cage is a convenient confinement, long hours inside a cage, unattended, is not healthy for your bird.
*Birds are easy to train since they love to learn and grab attention from humans. Training is given for the sense of plain fun. But we cannot plan for her all by ourselves. Birds learn things according to their capacity.
*Birds are interesting to have around. They are incredibly beautiful and vibrantly coloured. Their behaviour is fun to observe and lower our stress level. Birds are not the home decor. They are not the feathered equivalent of a brightly coloured aquarium fish. They are every bit as high maintenance as other type of pets.
*Birds have lot of energy and need space to burn it out. A small cage may not be suitable for your pet and its not acceptable to keep it solely in a cage. Cages should be the largest ones we can afford, not what cage fits in the smallest area.
*Birds are inexpensive to feed. It’s best to feed a high quality diet of species-specific commercial pelleted food (not seed mix) fruits, veggies and sprouted grains. Feathered pets also need annual medical examinations from an avain veterinarian to monitor their health.
*Birds do not require much grooming. They are naturally clean and when happy they have a good jov of keeping their feather coats shinny through preening. Just a bath for your pet in plain, tepid, clean filtered water is all they need as
pampering.
*Birds are extremely social animals. You need to spend a significant time interacting with your inquisitive exotic bird. Treating them as family members in the fullest sense- keeping them outside the cage for several hours- helps them merge in your surroundings better. Caging your bird all the 24 hours can make it unhappy and self-destructive. An opportunity to interact, frequent mental stimulation and environmental enrichment are sure not to develop emotional troubles and harmful behaviour.
Hence a zoo or a circus is never an apt place for any bird. In zoos, they are housed inappropriately. Often predators are kept in close proximity to the animals who are their natural prey- a situation which causes extreme stress to both the animals. Many birds have no shelter to protect themselves from harsh weather conditions. They are observed eating rotten food, debris. Visitors often taunt, abuse, mistreat, feed the birds with no personnel check. Countless birds are given no food and water. Every facility is seriously deficient. Also trading of pets is a burning issue that needs immediate concern. It is estimated that for every bird sold in the market, four die en route. Fledgings are stolen from their nests and smuggled to overseas markets in cartons and some even rolled up inside socks to transport to cities. They are doomed for a lifetime in crammed, clipped to scissors and can hardly stretch their wings.
The word ‘captive’ does not exist in the dictionary of the house birds. Its only love, affection, care and attention they know about. Circuses are prisons for the bird’s, human homes bring heavenly pleasure for them.

You always adore your dog. You are mad about your dog. You put all your heart and mind in taking care of your pet. You always keep a clear track of their behaviour, their psychology and most importantly their food and nutrition. We would never want them to fall sick. We always like them moving and jumping around the house and cheering us up. We love them dearly and want them to love us back.
Most dog owners have probably seen their canine friend graze on grass at one point or another. A few theorists exist to explain this as an odd beahviour but nothing is definitive. Dogs love yo munch away on grass and some even make it a part of their daily routine. But why exactly do they gobble up the green stuff in your yard?

One common reason we make up is that ‘dog eating grass’ is an act of them falling sick. Dogs use that grass to binge and purge because of a build up of bile in their stomach. Many dog owners get startled on seeing this kind of a behaviour. They think if their dog is retarted or something. However, on consulting the vet, he or she explains that they eat grass to try to force themselves to throw up to make themselves feel better. The gallbladder produces bile and it is excreted into the stomach which aids in the digestion of fats. On an empty stomach, bile can cause an acidic or sick feeling that triggers the dog to to grass in order to vomit up whatever is making them feel ill. Most often a dog vomits up the bile and grass combo only to dive into their breakfast a few minutes later as if nothing wrong ever happened.
dg 3

When should you be worried? If the grass eating frequency increases or occurs more than once a week, a visit to a vet is needed. The nausea or acidic stomach could be caused by an unknown condition and only antacids can calm that hollow stomach. So not exactly harmful, your dog may be eating grass for a specific purpose, or simply just idly chewing on it for no reason. Many theorists speculate that a dog who chew on grass may have an anxiety issue. Just as we try to ease off our anxiety, dogs try and control their anxiety through a compulsive disorder, in this case through chewing and eating grass. If you notice your dog expressing signs of anxiety like excessive blinking, panting or turning in circles for no concrete reason, and then out of nowhere you see it eating the grass, it maybe doing so to control anxiety. It is important that we consult our vet about the nervous dog and he may prescribe a mild sedative to administer in the event of another episode.
dg 2

‘Pico’ is a technical term for the disorder characterized by eating things that aren’t food. Sometimes Pica indicates that your dog has some type of nutritional deficiency though it is often simply a sign of boredom, especially when practiced by puppies and younger dogs. Dog eating grass is actually quiet common and has been observed in wild dogs too. It is completely natural and this form of pica does not usually cause too much problem. While most veterinarians consider it a normal dog behaviour, grass is the most commonly eaten item among the dogs.
There are many suggested reasons why your dogs eat grass. This includes improving digestion, treating intestinal worms or fulfilling some unmet nutritional need, including the need for fiber. A published study reports on a miniature poodle that ate grass and vomited constantly for seven days. Three days after putting the dog on a high-fiber diet, the owner reported that the dog eventually stopped eating grass entirely. So there remains a possibility that your dog just likes the way grass tastes or feels. Gastrointestinal issues like upset stomach, nausea, bloating and illness from pathogenic microbes makes the dog run frantically out of the house. Once out, it will chow down on any grass available or maybe even plant leaves, taking large bites and swallowing plants whole. It is their natural remedy. They also do it in the hunt for a specific type of plant and after proper identification, it will calmly nibble on the plant. Wolves and other wild Canids are known to regularly eat plant matter, suggesting dog’s grass eating as innate and perfectly normal.
Dogs unlike their catty counterparts aren’t carnivores. But they are also not like your garden-variety omnivores. For tens of thousands of years, these opportunistic scavengers have devoured anything and everything, as long as it fulfilled their basic dietary requirements. The modern dog, partly because because of evolution and domestication, is no longer like its ancestors, which frequently ate their prey entirely, including stomach content of plant eating animals. Instead dogs seek out plants as an alternative source. It is grass – the closest at hand- while wild canines are known to feed on wild berries, fruits and other vegetable matter too.
Nutritional necessity: Some experts see no danger in letting your dog might crave, especially if its on a commercial diet. If your dog has been munching away on grass or houseplants, then you may want to introduce natural herbs or cooked vegetables into his diet. Dogs aren’t finecky like cats, but aren’t very fond of raw vegetables either. But they gulp down anything that they find is tasty. Giving them a carrot to snack on during the day or buying a good quality green dietary supplement to their meal will reduce their habit of grass eating. Proper suggestions will come from a knowledgeable pet store employee or a food store that carries healthy dog food.
doggrazdg 1

However the potential dangers follow. Lawns sprayed with herbicides and pesticides can be very lethal and toxic to your dog if it chews affected grass. Fertilizers, weeds build up in their systems certain troubles like accidental indigestion. Keeping the lawn clear of chemicals and natural and diacouraging your dog from random munching while on walks is every owner’s randon duty. If you find that the grass eating is out of boredom, engage your pet in some interactive, fun activities. Interactive games and giving it a toy to chew rather than letting it resort to grass eating method is what should be done. Discourage it from eating grasd that is not soft, green cultivated grass that we enjoy in our backward gardens, although this is not pverly detrimental to the dog. We can also buy a small tray of grass or start a herbal home garden just for the sake of our pooch. This gives him an alternative to the outdoor grass and landscaping, thereby protecting him from further discontentment and vexation. Also other animals can leave feces behind that will e infected with worms or flea eggs and if the dog fees on the infected grass and is not vaccinated, it is very likely that your dog will contract them.
Trainjng your pooch, keeping a watchful eye when its outside and being dilligent with your discipline is the key to bteakjg your dog off from this behaviour. Give poaitive reinforcement when the dog doesn’t eat it and negative reinforcement when it attempts to eat it. Reward your dog. Regular veterinary appointments to monitor your dog’s health is necessary. And never hesitate to discuss with your veterinary doctor regarding trivial matters. Understanding your dog’s difficulties is what they expect of you. It’s not so difficult as learing rocket science absolutely new. Just a different way of communication which we, at times confuse to comprehend.

Zoos spend millions keeping them penned. Even the nicest people love to watch them kept behind concrete, iron bars or bullet proof glasses. Chimpanzees are just like our babies and can do much more than a cat and a dog. They are smart and share 98.5% of the human genes. They need full time attention. You may have to carry the chimp around all the time. The idea of a babysitter will be very unsuccessful. They also throw temper tantrums just like a regular child. However the only difference is that they grow up to be seven times more strong than the human. They may bite and cause serious injury.
People have been keeping chimps as pets for many years now. Many celebrities of the past and the present have owned chimps as well along with people like our next door neighbors. The idea of having a pet is so close to the humans, it is nothing new but that these almost human creatures now raise a lot of dilemmas when it comes to the petting them.
Chimpanzees are also called Common Chimpanzees. The males can grow up to be 150 pounds while the female ones are slightly smaller. They can live for around 50 years, so owning a chimpanzee can lead a big hole in your pocket. Chimps need long years of continuous service which might get monotonous and a little tiring. But they are such a huge packet of entertainment and fun, you will have no knowledge of the passing time in the company of your chimp.
Chimpanzees are very familiar to the humans, perhaps because so much of their behaviour reminds us of ourselves. They are considered great apes list like gorillas, orangutans and Bonobos. They are extremely social and intelligent animals. They are active, strong and very hands on. They usually thrive in social groups of other chimpanzees and groom each other often. So buying two or more chimps together will be helpful for them individually in associating and growing up. Young chimps are declared adults at the age of 13. Once they reach adulthood thy can become quite physical, harmful as well as demanding. This is when many chimp owners leave hope. Therefore petting a chimpanzee comes with a lot of responsibilities altogether. They spend their day much like us, they eat, sleep, socialize and play. Chimps can get bored easily if they have nothing constructive to do. They can also turn aggressive and cause harm.
chimp 1

Earlier many chimpanzees used to be trained as service animals and would help their owners do everything like cooking, opening doors, picking up items, washing dishes and even dialing 911. Some people have trained their chimps to learn sign languages, dress up all by themselves and do so many other things we can never even think about seeing a primate do. It also includes using the remote to watch television, eat from the plate all by themselves, play with toys made for a human child.
It is also important that chimpanzees are toilet trained while many owners make them wear diapers. They can learn if taught properly. Besides they can also perform activities like eating from the plate with a knife and a fork, picking up toys just like a young boy learns to do.
Chimpanzees are omnivores which mean they eat both plants and animals. Fruits, leaves, insects, eggs, tree bark, nuts and ocassionally even smaller animals have been observed to be consumed by the wild chimps. And who doesn’t know about bananas being their favourite food, just like ice-creams are ours. While in captivity, their primary diet should be formulated and nutritionally complete. While these primary diets offer much of what a chimpanzee needs, they lack in encouraging the foraging behaviour which is such an important part of their mental stimulation. Breaking open the nut, picking leaves off the branches, biting into fruits, slicing the banana are activities necessary for their well-being and should be encouraged in addition to feeding the primate diet. The basic states that if your chimp weighs 100 pounds, he should eat about four pounds of food in a day which is ideally adjusted to maintain his body weight. However if you feed your chimpanzee delicacies, spaghetti, keep it on a diet of fast food or take it out for Chinese, he will obviously live and grow but not a long or either a healthy life.
Regular veterinary visit ensures their healthy lifestyle. Heart disease, dental disease and diabetes are common in them. Every primate should be closely monitored for the diseases. Vaccinations discussed with the vet should only be given according to the correct schedule.
chimp 2

Chimpanzees are atleast four times as strong as humans and hence need a durable enclosure to keep them contained when you are unable to watch them. A single room or a large outdoor enclosure dedicated to your chimp along with plenty of ropes, swings, play – items can be a perfect residential home for them. Usually they need bigger space to move around and exercise. If they are made to sit ideal in one place for long hours, they will be depressed and fall sick. Proper play and playmates will provide the best platform for wise channeling of his energies. So in case you remain busy and outdoor for most part of the day, it’s always suitable to but two chimpanzees together so that both can complement each other and never get bored. Glass windows should be protected from being shattered by a strong chimp throwing items towards it.

What could be more rewarding than giving a second chance to a homeless dog whose family moved and decided not to take him along or one born a stray in an empty warehouse or give your love to a dog from an abused home. Whatever his story, there is a dog out there who wants to put his sad life chapters behind him and write a happy ending with you.
Adopting a dog from a shelter is another scope for finding a perfect partner at home. Do not fear of bringing a ‘damaged material’ to home. Shelter Dogs are often very loving and eager to win your heart. You are not only giving a grateful pooch a new leash of life, you will gain a faithful friend who will brighten your every single day.
dog 1

I assure everyone that if you bring such kinds of dogs home, your life will change for the good. Arthur Conan Doyle once said that ‘a dog reflects family life’. Dogs make our lives complete. Its amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our world. They teach us about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. They teach us to appreciate every single little thing- a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall etc. As they grow old and achy, they teach us how to show optimism in the face of adversity. They show selflessness and above all unwavering loyalty. So why need a human partner when animals are so much better?
dog 3

In today’s world, to be on the top requires immense hard work. Work for unending hours, no food, no quality sleep, no space, no outings and relaxation. In such situations, one craves for some companionship. Any kind of comraderie is welcome. One who listens calmly as you vent out your everyday frustrations, someone you can unabashedly crib to after a tiring bad day at work, someone who will never complain, always be there beside you, everyday, punctually, whom you can share your happiness and achievements with. They will never be angry on you, never backstab you, never show jealousy and will never fake this friendship. This is where a pet dog comes to your rescue, showering unending love, faith, honesty, loyalty and joy. There is no other source of comfort than a pet at home. Choosing the correct one according to your convenience is all that you need to do.
A dog remains on your side from the main door of the house, wagging its tail, jumping over-enthusiastically like it’s been waiting for long extended years. It gives you company as you contemplate the bigger mysteries of life. The best thing about dogs are that they know exactly what you need from them, they leave no opportunity to impress you. If you are in a happy mood, they will love to play with you. If you need comfort they will comfort you with a rub or a nudge. If you want solitude, they will switch on to become silent onlookers. They will give you all that they are capable of without irritating or disturbing you. A dog will follow you blindly. Whichever command you give, hey are always at your beck and call.
Dogs are trustworthy. You go out with your entire family, keeping your dog at guard; no burglar will dare to break inside. Your dog will sit bold and strong on the main entrance, with his big, angry eyes sparkling in the darkness, thus scaring away every possible intruder. Never will they think of coming back again.
dog 2

There are many couples who plan to buy a new dog immediately after marriage. Since, they are always tensed about the safety of their newborn. Besides, there is also your dog who needs attention frequently. Whom to give more time? How to make the dog accustomed to this new family member? Your pet dog is an excellent babysitter. They are loyal and protective. Nobody’s going to hurt your baby when your dog is curled up around him. Your baby will grow up to become a wonderful person if kept in contact with your dog because they are highly inculcated with moral values which babies will learn quickly from them.
Dogs are also great friends of the elders. Growing old is an inevitable part of this journey of life which everyone undertakes. It comes with a reduction of worldly duties and responsibilities. But sadly, it also comes with a fair share of health troubles, slow recovery, onset of isolation, less quality time with the family etc. Pet dogs are the best effective way of combating lonliness and keeping the vulnerable heart healthy. Dogs understand them. They take love as well as give love. They bond up with the elders easily by giving a patient ear for everything they have to say and repeat and dogs respond sincerely. Your dog will make them feel wanted. They uplift their spirits, keep their morales high. They ensure their safety and comfort. Communication between the two becomes a regular feature of their daily schedules. Dogs treat the elders sensitively which keeps them calm; this is a proficient support system when the person’s health is degrading fast. Your pet dog is a passive companion to everyone who needs them the most.

So when you have an all-rounder doggy partner at home, independent, caring, honest and a good listener, why do you need somebody else? Because no other human being can assure you with the permanency of your relationship, but dogs can. Not a single person is trustworthy but a dog is. Every single person acts superficially but a dog never does. Every single person is bound to change but a dog? Now you know the answer.
