Do you believe that superheroes really exist? And if by any chance they do, they give their lives for humanity? I never used to believe that before, I know Stan Lee had shown too many people with superpowers in his show but none of them were heroes. So apparently, you can never go to sleep thinking that superheroes are watching over us and they will save us from alien invasion. But after I lived 15 years of my life thinking that superheroes don’t exist and X-men are not real, dad finally bought home our own personal superhero, Roxanne. Do you know what I am talking about? I’m talking about dogs. I’m not saying dogs are Underdog kind of superheroes but they are definitely our kind of superheroes who may not save us from alien invasion if the aliens turn out to be dog haters and kill our dogs, but they can surely save us from intruders, sadness, depression, boredom and so on (I don’t think aliens will kill a beautiful creature like dog. We are the one who is ruling the planet). Errr… even if the aliens turn out to be dog haters, dogs can surely make them love dogs like they have done to so many of humans.
Our superheroes in disguise have some real superpowers.
Night Vision:
We humans can clearly see 75 feet but dogs can only see up to 25 feet but dogs have in-build night vision like Wolverine. They can see clearly in dim light and detect mere motion. Yes, now you can freak out about their barking at the dark. Who knows, someone or something may be crawling in the darkest corners of your house! Well that can be a spider or a mouse too… or not!
Super Hearing:
Tilting their head whenever you call them or rotating their ears to catch sound frequency, explains their super sensitive hearing. They can detect the sound source from a great distance. Dogs with pointed ears are better in hearing sounds than those with their ears down. Though I doubt my dog, Roxanne, he could never find the original source of sound. He goes to all the echoes but never to the real sound.
Nose Prints:
Dog’s nose print is same as humans’ finger prints. Every dog has unique nose print. You can find out your dog by his nose print if you succeed to keep one. I think you will get plenty as they never stop smelling things.
Super Nose-y:
A dog’s sniffing power is 1000 times greater than that of a human. Human nose have 5 receptors whereas a dachshund has 150 receptors. Their super sniffing power explains why they are so nosy about everything and that also is the reason why they are being used to detect drugs, cancer, bed bugs, termite, blood sugar abnormalities and the list goes on.
Bad Hair Day:
Some dogs suffer from too much Bad hair day. They can grow 30 metres of fur… per day. That’s how they are entirely covered with fur.
We Understand, Humans:
Research shows that among the animals only dog can understand human emotions by looking at you. That’s why may be knowingly they play joker when you are sad. They can understand if you are angry, sad or happy just by looking at you.
Fat Burner:
Unlike us, dogs’ main energy sources come from the deposited fat in their body and not carbohydrates. By increasing fat in their diet you can increase their metabolism and endurance. Lucky them! And our body thinks we are going to need all that fat deposit someday!
Black and White:
Did you think that dogs can’t see colours? They can see colours but not as many as we do. The colour spectrum appears differently in their eyes. They are assumed to have dichromatic vision and they are not able to see colours from red to green but they can see yellow and some shades of green.
And the best unique superpower of dogs that no other superhero has?
They can make you laugh in your darkest moods. They can make the worst person of the planet a real person with those innocent soulful eyes. They’d do anything to make you happy; they’d do anything to protect you. They are your best friend, best therapist and best troublemakers but that puppy eyes of them will always stay in your heart no matter how bad they get, you can always find a reason to take the blame on yourself and forgive them.
With all their superpowers they make our lives a beautiful one, a happy one. In return we should take care of their happiness too. They get happy in very silly childish things. They don’t judge you, they never nag for things. All they want is walks in the park, food, barks at the postman and occasional treats. We can do that much for our super silly super dogs can’t we?
