Has the thought ever crossed your mind that maybe your pet is a little unusual? You must have wondered sometimes whether it may be smarter than the average animal. Well, then this segment is totally meant for you. There have been instances all over the planet, of people reporting that their pet is psychic. Of course this seems absurd. Believing that some humans are psychic is not possible for the majority of us. So believing that pets too have this quality is absolutely impossible. But if you read further there is a chance that you might turn skeptical.
There are cases of many pets who wait at the door when their master is about to return home. These are not just dogs or cats but also horses, birds and many other species of animals. An argument against this would be that these pets know the daily routine of their master and thus know exactly when he or she will return. To test this, the people have been asked to take different modes of transport and to return home at irregular timings, so as to cancel out all the chances of this being only a matter of routine activity. Despite all of this, the pets have been accurate in knowing the time of arrival. I too can relate to this scenario since my dog always starts sniffing at the door when any member of the household is on the way home.
In other situations, dogs or cats run towards the phone seconds before it rings, as though they already know when somebody will call. Also, some animals have alerted people much before the coming of a disaster and have thus managed to save numerous lives. Likewise, in a survey of about 5000 pets, there have been 177 cases of dogs apparently responding to the death or suffering of their masters or mistresses, mostly by howling, whining or whimpering, and 62 accounts of cats showing similar signs of distress even though all of these animals were far away from their masters. Conversely, in 32 instances people knew when their pet had died or was in dire need, even when they were many miles away at the time.
Quite a few people have also stated that their pets know precisely what they are thinking of and respond to it accordingly. For example, just when a man has the thought of taking his dog for a walk, the dog jumps up excitedly and rushes to the door with the leash in its mouth. Certain people who have conducted experiments and done thorough research on such cases have come to the conclusion that some pets are gifted and are psychic. They also think that there exists a telepathic connection between humans and their family pets on account of the strong bond with each other.
Rupert Sheldrake, the author of Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home believes that animals have abilities that humans may have possessed at one time, but somehow lost. Through his extensive research, he has concluded that there are three major categories of unexplained perceptiveness by animals:
• Telepathy - a psychic connection that some pets may have with their owners through connections Sheldrake calls “orphic fields.” It is this ability that enables pets to “know” when their owners are on their way home.
• The Sense of Direction - this ability accounts for the “incredible journeys” some animals make to be with their owners, including homing pigeons.
• Premonitions - which may explain why some animals seem to know when earthquakes and other events are about to occur.
However, scientists claim that this is no miraculous ability of an animal. They attempt to explain this behavior by saying that animals might be super sensitive to the changes in the environment. Maybe they feel vibrations or hear sounds that are too subtle for us husmans to observe. Also, humans might give cues by their body language or emit particular odors when they think of doing different things and the pets associate those behavioral patterns and odors with specific activities. That may be how they know exactly when their master will perform a certain task. Or it may even be that the pet reacts in the same way often but the master takes notice of this behavior only during specific events and therefore thinks that the pet has a sixth sense.
This matter will always be subject to a debate between the people who think that animals can be psychic and those who refute the claim. There is no sure shot way to find out what the truth is since sometimes, even science and great scientists are unable to explain the extraordinary things that some animals are capable of. But these paranormal abilities of our pets can be used to an advantage. For example, since the Seventies, in earthquake-prone areas of China, the authorities have encouraged people to report unusual animal behavior. In several cases they have issued warnings that enabled cities to be evacuated hours before earthquakes struck, saving tens of thousands of lives. By paying attention to unusual animal behavior, earthquake and tsunami warning systems might be feasible in parts of the world that are at risk from these disasters.
Not just that. Many pets have been able to detect tumors in their master’s body, in the exact spot, and have warned them in due time. Some animals have even shown the non explainable capability of knowing when their master will meet with an accident or have an epileptic seizure and have been instrumental in saving their lives. So it can be considered an advantage of having a psychic pet. Observe your pet closely now. Is it psychic?
