The most nurtured dog types by humans are security dogs, companion dogs, lap dogs, mountain dogs & toy dogs.
Toy dogs today are one of the most commonly adopted type of dogs. These dogs are majorly kept in as the family dogs, and are mostly small in size. These dogs are usually very playful & demand a loving care.
The most common breed that falls under this category is Dachshund. Dachshund is a very lively & friendly breed that is elongated in shape & is considered as the deep diggers, as they love digging grounds & have a very keen sense of smelling. Dachshunds were originally breed to hunt badgers that lived deep under the grounds. Today the versatility of this dog has made it an excellent family dog, show dog & small game hunter. They are also known to be fearless dogs. They can be stubborn at times, and can pester the owner to get something they want. A dachshund is very smart & intelligent, but a poor care can make this highly versatile breed lazy & lethargic, which will result in the snappy behaviors of the dog. These dogs have a reputation of being entertaining and the most demanded thing from this bred is the cuddle by its master.
Dachshunds are said to be the dogs with lots of energy & stamina & are required to do exercise for at least 10 minutes in a day, to keep them healthy because of their structure. Dachshunds have elongated backs & big chests, because of which they are prone to slip disks or partial or full paralysis. They can break their bones or injure themselves by jumping from furniture in the home. Dachshunds are active both outside & inside of the house that makes them adjust easily in a small place, as long as they get the required amount of exercise daily. This breed learns very quickly, if trained with right motivation & can become easily bored also with repetition in exercises, therefore has to be keep the exercising routine new & interesting enough every time for a Dachshund.
A Dachshund pup must not be fed more than ½ to 1 ½ cup of dry food daily. One should also take care of not over feeding an adult dog, depending upon his size, build, metabolism & activity level, as every dog is different, and so right amount of food along with the right amount of exercise should be given to the dog. Dachshund sometimes can be hardheaded & can look at the master as if it has no clue about what to do or why it should be done. This can be usually faced during the growing years of the pup, in such a case the master should be patient enough to give him a good training, as getting adamant with commands or things is very common in dachshund pup & humans children aging 5- 8 years of age. A dachshund has a life span of 12-15 years, and if not taken a good care can lead to its death in 7-8 years. The longest lived dachshund to be recorded was of a female dachshund that lived in New York & died at the age of 23 years. The secret for the long living of this age is just a good health care that increases the metabolism & keeps the dog active enough to go on each day.
Dogs are known for their way of making humans about how they feel. They improve the mental as well as physical health of a human being. A dog is a companion to a human in loneliness & makes us feel better in our bad times, as it acts as an emotional support to a human being and does not require big house, wealthy master or a pricey looking crate or a bed to sleep in. All a dog wants is a loving human to play fetch with, go on long walks with, share the food with and a master with a aim of turning into a person as good as his dog thinks he is.
