Animals and Cartoons are inter related in many aspects. The cartoon characters have to get an inspiration from someone, and the most common source of inspiration since the beginning of the era has been from human beings or animals, which have always seen a relation between each other. Even one of the first cartoon characters, that went through a lot of trouble to be AIRED was inspired from a mouse, which we all know as Mickey Mouse, and obviously his girlfriend, Minnie Mouse. After that came the era of ducks, that included Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge. The various other cartoon characters inspired from living beings include the very renowned Scooby Doo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, which were talking dogs, Bugs Bunny etc. The cartoon show, “Pokemon” had thousands of species of animal inspired cartoon characters. A few fun facts about these cartoon animals are as follow.

Scooby Doo needs no introduction. It has been a famous animal since ages. A pet to a few friends, it was a detective dog, who used to solve mysteries, in which, there usually used to be a ghost, and Scooby was extremely fearful from them. But somehow, it was this dog that managed to solve the mystery by hook or by crook, and there always used to be some person who scared everyone by disguising in the outfit of a ghost. Although it sounds weird but we as children used to wait for this show and had a nail biting experience while watching this. The foody scooby had a best friend Shaggy, which was equally scared from ghosts as was Scooby, and was equally foody too. “Scooby Doo, Where are you?” was the tagline of the show, and a question that everyone asks nowadays, who once was a fan of this show. The show got so renowned that people started naming their dogs as “Scooby”.

- Tom and Jerry
There are some known facts in our mind, which have been inscribed there since a long time. One such fact is a cat and mouse being enemies, and this fact has been put in our mind through the animated serial, Tom and Jerry. An evergreen show, which was liked by people of all age groups, shows the cat, Tom, trying to chase the mouse, Jerry, for food, and the mice trying to steal the food from Tom’s owner’s house in obnoxious ways. This show has left a deep inscription on the minds of people. A dog named Spike is also shown in a few episodes, which tries to follow the cat, as Cat and Dog are meant to be enemies. More than a decade has passed since this show is being screened, but still, a mystery remains in the show, that is the face of the owner of the dog and the cat, and the mouse which unofficially lives in the house, is never shown.

- Pokemon
And finally a show, that is dedicated to all the fauna and flora on this planet. A lot of thinking seems to have gone in this show. Showing thousands of species on this show, each pokemon or pocket monster resembles an animal or a plant, that lives on Earth or in water or some bird flying in the sky, like Pikachu, that is a kind of mouse, caterpie, which is actually a caterpillar and follows all the stages of a caterpillar that it takes to become a butterfly and many more. They have taken ideas from a pet as simple as a dog to as unique as a mockingbird. They literally made presence of almost all the species on this Earth, which further proved helpful for kids to get to know about the ecosystem
It is a well known fact that learning is easier by watching than by reading. Cartoons play a same role. These cartoons help kids in learning about the kinds of animals and plants present in their society. Not only kids are educated by these, but grown ups also gain knowledge as their is no age to stop learning. These kids are a part and parcel of a growing child’s education as everything cannot be taught through books. Apart from providing knowledge about different species, these cartoons also contain a pinch of cultural and social values for the kids, so that they can learn new things about the society. These animated animals also inspire them to have a pet and play with them. After all, pet is the best companion to a human being. But these cartoons are losing their importance with the growing time, and the grown ups, out of desperation for these cartoons, keep on asking, Scooby Doo, Where are you?
